I've encountered this problem on all of my zetaboards. Here's the url of one of them: http://s1.zetaboards.com/secondchancestest2 I want to be able to prevent one poster on one of my boards from viewing certain forums. I've set up a special permission mask and membergroup just for her giving her access only to specific boards The problem is that all of my forums are visible to guests, so when she's not logged in she can see what I don't want her to see. I want to keep my forums visible to guests - so hiding them from guests isn't an option for me. The member in question has a static ip address, so it occurred to me that if I ban her ip address, but exempt her membership name from the ban, then she'd be able to login and see what I want her to see, but not have access if she's not logged in. I've tested this on 3 of my boards using my own ip addy and membership and in each case, the system recognizes that I am exempt from the ip ban when I ban the ip address. As long as I stay logged in I can still access the board just fine, but once I logout it gives me the following message: Error: Your access to this board has been blocked by the administration. That's not unexpected. What is unexpected is that when I try to re-login using the member name that's supposedly exempt from ip bans, it still gives me that message. Like I said, I've tried this process on 3 different boards using 2 of my computers at home. I've managed to lock myself out of my sites (no big deal, I can access them from my work computer in the morning and unban myself, lol), but I'm just wondering if this is a known bug or if there's some key step that I'm missing? I have toggled "Exempt from IP bans" to yes for the my membership and when I've entered the ip address in the ban section, it has acknowledged that I am able to bypass the ip ban. Thanks |

I had a similar problem some months ago, and submitted a support ticket. Where new registrations with the same IP as a banned member were supposed to be allowed to still register with admin approval, but they were blocked from even filling out the registration form. It was added to the list of bugs to be fixed, but I don't know when this will be done. Edited by Amanda, Dec 17 2008, 05:06 AM.

Thanks. I guess I'll just keep an eye on the list of things they fix in the future. |
