Am just wanting to know if it's possible to install too many codes onto your forum? Am one of those people that wants their forum to have absolutely every code out there to make their forum do absolutely everything, but I think that I have messed up in some places as some as the codes have started to mess up and some have stopped doing what they are supposed to do. Like, for example, I have both the code that adds an emoticon box to the quick reply section, and also the code that gives me a draggable flotabox. The floatbox did it's job, moving to where I wanted it to when I dragged it, but then I put the emoticon code on my forum and first of all, the code didn't work, but then the floatbox is no longer draggable. Just wondering if some codes interact with each other and stop each other working, or if I have messed up somewhere. If needed, I will post all the codes I have on my forum, but am going to see if anyone has an answer first. Forum URL is http://s1.zetaboards.com/Lanex_Entertainment/index/ , now click there and try moving the floatbox, and it doesn't move, but I know for a fact I installed the draggable one because it worked at first. Also, I installed the code that's meant to add new sections to the stats part, but the two boxes have not come up, yet it was a simple copy and paste code and should have worked. (Oh yeah, don't ask about the red font in random places - I installed the member legend color thingymajiggy and it colored all the instances of Lanex in, lol). |

The floatbox and emoticon box definitely have things in common and most probably conflict with each other. I suggest using one or the other. Also, before adding a code, ask yourself if you really need it. |

Most of them I tend to add and then see if I can incorporate something into it, and make uses of it. If I find it to not be that useful then I get rid of them, am mainly just having a play around at the moment. Is there any reason that the two boxes in the stats menu wouldn't work? I'd ask in the topic but it's on the old forum.
[edit] NVM, just added a different code and it's working now. Is it ever possible to know what codes are going to mess with each other? Like a specific action or something in the code text? Edited by Lanex, Jan 11 2009, 07:38 AM.

There's nothing really to notify you if they don't work together, but usually you should know if you add them one at a time. |
