OK so i'm making a new forum and want to start ranking my members. I have added the kind of ranks but how do I get the person to be the rank. For example, my co-leaders are going to be ranked and i have added that as a rank. How can I make them co-leader rank because right now they are clan friends http://z8.invisionfree.com/SilentWarriors/index.php?act=idx |

Are you talking about user groups? You will be required to promote each user manually for the time being. Navigate to your AdminCP - Users and Groups - Find/Edit/Suspend User. Once there search for each user. On the new page click on Edit Details and under Member Security Settings look for Member Group. Choose the users new group from the drop down to the right. If in the future you wish to promote users on post counts, you can set up Group Promotion: AdminCP - Users and Groups - Manage User Groups. Click Edit Group for the group you wish to automatically promote, and scroll to the bottom. For Promote members of this group to: choose the next rank up, and then set the number of posts they require to move into this group. If any of this is not what you where after, please let me know.

Hi Tony, i have a question regarding Promotion. I want to promote members based on their post counts. For eg, when a member reaches 1000 posts i want them to become Advanced Member, when they reach 2000 i want it to say Royalty Member etc. Is there any way i can set this up? Thanks |

It depends on whether those are actual user groups, or just designation titles. If you want to promote to a different user group, then follow Tony's directions above. In Users and Groups -> Manage User Groups, edit the group(s) that the promotion applies to, what post count the users need to reach and what group they move to when they reach it. Note that if you have members in a group already above that post count, they will need to make another post before moving up. If you are referring to titles, then go to Users and Groups -> User Title/Ranks instead. You can edit the user ranks and their corresponding minimum post counts, along with any images. This process is automatic. See this thread for more info: http://if.invisionfree.com/topic/1706/1/ Edited by cvn-tv-dip, Feb 4 2009, 05:52 PM.

I am talking about user groups. What i want is to see is, that when members reach 1000 posts, instead of it being Group:Members, i want it to say Group: Advanced Member. When they reach 2000 posts i want to move from Group: Advanced Members to Group: Royalty Member etc. So far all i have done is go into user groups and added a new member group named Advanced Members. I dont know if i'm heading in the right direction or what to do next. Edited by Aaleyonce, Feb 4 2009, 06:25 PM.

Ok i messed up again. I created a user groups named Advanced Member, then i created a permision mask for it. I also did the same for Senior member. Problem is now anyone who posts is suddenly an advanced member, even if they have less than 1000 posts. Then if they post again, it says theyre Senior Member. So i deleted the senior member group. When i did this the person who was promoted to senior member after only 2 posts suddenly has validating in their Group name. I can't seem to change it. Hellllllllppppppp!!! |

You should set up your user group settings this way: Admin CP -> Users and Groups -> Manage User Groups -> Edit Group for (Members) Group Promotion -> Promote members of this group to: Advanced Members when they reach 1000 posts This way if a user posts after this change is implemented and the account has post count of 1000 or higher, the user should be placed in Advanced Members group. For specific users, go to Users and Groups -> Find/Edit/Suspend User -> Member Security Settings -> Member Group and manually change their user group. If you still have problems, you may want to send a Support Ticket so the IF staff can take a look. Edited by cvn-tv-dip, Feb 4 2009, 10:51 PM.

This is what i did I went into Manage User groups and created a new Group named Advanced Member by doing this. base new group on >Members> Set up new Group. Then i went into Permission mask and created a permission mask for it. Then i Manage users groups>Members> Edit> I then did this. Group Promotion -> Promote members of this group to: Advanced Member when they reach 1000 posts. Where did i go wrong? Because now posters who have like 75 posts are being promoted to Advanced Member when they post. Any member who posts is promoted to advanced member. Edited by Aaleyonce, Feb 4 2009, 11:24 PM.
