I have a slight problem with my forum When one arrive to the forum, there are markers showing new post in the subforums. But if you check a post in the subforum (not all though) and leave some of them unchecked, and then visit the Forumindex, the subforum marker show No new posts, eventhough there is topics still unread. Can I change this, to wherenver a topic is unread, the marker shows it? http://s15.zetaboards.com/Svenska_Wicca/index/ |

Those markers are used to indicate whether a section has been viewed or not, which is irrelevant to the topics in it. You could swap the image over. |

My members at the forum seem not to think it's irrelivant. But I would like the marker to show weither all topics are read, or if there are some left. Is it possible? What do you mean by swop the image over? |

Your idea of what the markers are for is incorrect. Someone may be able to create a modification for you, to acheive what you would prefer to have. Feel free to look through our Board Directory for modification boards who may be able to assist you further. Replace the read image with the un-read image, giving the illusion of un-read topics. |

I would say your idea of a marker is incorrect. This means, that you will have to guess where the topics is still unread, searching through all the subforums, if you just didn't happen to check all in order. Which, I think, seldom happens. And what I just saw now, is that the Marker is still visible if I make a post in a subforum, even though when I check again, there is nothing new to be seen. This works very confusing. |

Explain to us how my idea is in-correct. The forum markers are there solely to notify you of a forum sections read or un-read state. Nothing more. They have absolutely nothing to do with the read or un-read state of topics, that is what the topic icons are for. I've trashed your other topic since it serves no purpose. |

It doesn't really matter whose idea is 'right'. In fact, neither of them are right nor wrong. Maalin's idea is right to him, and Tony's is right to him. The unfortunate point though, is that Tony's idea is the generally accepted 'right' way of doing it, thus, how it's done with ZB. The only way to change this is with a script, however, I'm not aware of one in existance that does this, I don't imagine very much demand for it. You could search the board directory for a board that may have this and/or takes requests. |

Hence my reason for posting that fact, it's the way it's done on this service.

Thank you, that was a much more helpfull answer. Might so be, but it was not really clear to me. To me, you were only arrogant, cutting of my questions instead of giving me any help. Edited by Maalin, Apr 5 2009, 11:40 AM.
