Used to run a lot but now I only do it every so often. Maybe a lap or two around the football field once a week or so. Whenever I ran my miles I really just thought of something other than the running, kept at it, and kept hydrated. Good luck with your goals Vulcan. I'm rooting for ya!

I need to start running again too because I need to be able to run like 1 and a half miles in 12 minutes 12 seconds or something for the RAF.. I havn't been for a run in ages though and it's the whole motivation thing.. lol Anyways, one little tip I would suggest is to run on different types of ground. Don't just run on road.. You need to run on grass and other things or you're ankles will get real painful.. Alternate what you run on and drink plenty of water. Also yeah, Steve's advice of eating small but often is a great one.. Oh and Lewis, I think that slogan is meant that, the more you eat, the more you put on in weight so that means the more you can take off... |

I attend a boxing gym, therefore running is what I do first (after stretching) to get warmed up forthe rest of my routine. I run for a mile atleast 3 times a week... |

In my high school days I could run a mile pretty easy. In middle school we had a "fun run" that was roughly three miles, and I once ran it without stopping (in 24 minutes, no less). My best time on a mile run was 6:14. Now, however, I doubt I could run a mile without feeling some serious pain. I could probably do it, but it wouldn't be pretty. I'm really out of shape but trying to get back into exercising. Good luck with your goals Vulcan!

I usually run 2km at least a couple times week, sometimes up to 6km depending on how vindictive my coach is feeling. It's just for cardio/warm-up so it's not like I'm an expert. My only real advice is make sure you have a good pair of shoes. It's worthwhile stopping by a running store; tell them what surfaces you usually run on and get them to examine your gait to see if they have any recommendations. Good luck man. |

Good for you Vulcan! Running is definitely not for everyone, I applaud you for keeping such a positive attitude. I try to run every morning (it is more like every other morning though). Running is what gets me charged up for the day ahead of me. I usually just do about 2 miles around my neighborhood. It's fun ;D You asked for pointers in your first post, and I didn't see anyone address this, but I assume you are dieting as well? Good luck!
