What software does ZetaBoards use? This question came up at a meeting of my group where we were discussing the differences between InvisionFree and ZetaBoards and I didn't know. When I go to other free forums, some give a choice of which software you want to use and this may include Invision, Pbb3 and Pbb2 or something like this and I know there's a MyBB software. What does Zeta Boards use? What does this mean? Is it a difference I can see like in the theme coding? Or is it something else? Does it make a difference in transferring a board from one place to another? Thanks. Zed |

Zetaboards is Zetaboards. Brandon coded it from the ground up. While InvisionFree is basically IPB1.3, Zetaboards is 100% original software, and you can only get it here. Currently, InvisionFree users can upgrade to Zetaboards, but not the other way around. |

Also, to add to what Nicola said: Upon upgrade from InvisionFree to a ZetaBoards board, the upgrade is completely free. You might want to give these links a look over to learn more about ZetaBoards: ZB Documentation & ZB FAQ |

Does the software include the possibility to convert other boards, for instance a Mybb board as well? Or only Invision boards - more specifically, only InvisionFree boards? Thanks. Zed |

Nope. Only IF users can convert to ZB, or you can make a new ZB board from scratch. |

There is currently no provision for cross platform conversions ie you cannot bring a forum currently using phbb mybb etc to Zeta only Invision free can convert and it's a one way process ie someone could not convert back to invision free. It's the same when it comes to exporting, it's not possible to move a Zeta forum to another platform e.g. phbb |

I'm not anticipating this, but is it possible to move an invision software board to an invision software board? Thanks. Zed |

Invisionfree boards can request a conversion. They would then receive a database dump of their board and instructions on what to do to make it work with a IPB 1.3 board. That is the only conversion we provide. From there, the 1.3 Invision Power board can be converted up to whatever the latest version is. Understand however that invision power boards cost quite a lot between the license and the cost of a web provider. |

I wonder if I am mixing up several questions here: I understand that buying a conversion is possible to go from IF to IPB. 1) Is it possible to obtain a backup (not a conversion) of either IF or ZB? 2) Aside from the conversions mentioned of IF-->IPB and IF-->ZB, are there any other known board conversions of any available board software? For instance, if someone has a MyBB board, can they move it to a different company that uses MyBB easily? Since I don't know much about board software, I don't quite know if I'm asking the question correctly? Thanks so much! Zed |
