After talking to a few people, it seems as though you can't really predict where someone places their money. In some cases, people value big houses, others value expensive cars, while others value land. I'm curious to know, where do you place your money? If you aren't at an age where you would buy those things, as I'm sure is the case for many, where do you think you would place it? |

Good question. If the option is between those 3, I think I would have to choose an expensive, fancy car. How's that for a reflection of age?

I think it would be a toss up between the big house and the land. |

Anyone who knows me personally (no one on these forums, I hope) knows that I hate material possessions. So much so that people often complain about trying to buy gifts for me .But, let's see...in four years I should have my BS (Bachelor's in Science degree, not the BS you're thinking of:P ) and I should be in the career world, making money. So where will I invest? Hmm... 1) The necessities. Obviously, food, water, shelter, etc. will be needed. However, I won't go for the "get a big house just because I can" lifestyle. If it's just me and my girlfriend, a 2-bedroom house will be fine (I need a guest bedroom because, knowing my family, they'll be spending too much time over my place). 2) My girlfriend. Though she might qualify as a "necessity" in #1. 3) Research resources. I'm going to major in biomedical engineering, hoping to become a biomedical engineer (duh) and specifically get involved with cancer research. Research needs resources, so it needs funding. What better way to have academic freedom than to fund your own research whenever possible? The rest of my money (if there's any left over) I can save for whenever I really need it. -IMP

Traveling. I want to travel. Lots. I don't see the need for a huge house, I mean how many rooms does anyone actually need? I'd prefer land over a large house. A large plot in the country with a jetty near a large river that leads to the sea please ![]() |

One of the few people I've seen respond that isn't materialistic. Seems like a good plan, regardless. =) |
