Woweee, you sure know your classical music.

I love classical music, however I can't listen to too much of it in one go. Obvs the clasics (Beethoven, Bach, Mozart) but also composers like Steve Reich ,Stravinsky, Dvorak, Shostakovich, Holst, Mahler, Ligeti, Messiaen. Boulez, Paganni, Ravel etc etc etc

Whitacre is by far my favorite composer. He produces a power in his work that is just remarkable. Hindemith (especially Symphonic Metamorphosis) and Ticheli come in at a close second/third. (All modern ones. Dunno why.)

Grainger (I never get tired of Colonial Song no matter how many times I hear it), Holst, and Copland are a few others who have produced pieces I really enjoy. Of course, I seldom find a composer who hasn't written at least one thing I like.

And even though it isn't necessarily "classical" music in the classical sense ( :P ), I'm a big Leonard Bernstein fan.

Oh be nice. An appreciation for film scores puts him deeper into classical music than most people. I think this thread could be very productive if it doesn't turn into a pissing contest about who can drop the most Russian sounding name and appear "cultured." Not everyone will be hardcore and camp out in concert halls. Especially with this sort of music, you're most likely to find people who just dabble in it. Ultimately though, it's just another genre of music...like any of the others. Only a lot older. :P

All the time since I'm trying pursuing clarinet as a career. :P

There's so many composers to listen to and so much out there, like Debussy, Mahler, Copland, etc.

My favourite classical musical is anything by Enya if that would count; and also Enigma.. :D There music is very unique and worth listening too! I think Mozart, is probably cliche, but definetly very good at what they do!

While I do appreciate very much classical music, I don't actually own any. I am quite inclined to Stravinsky and Beethoven though.

I won't pretend to know a lot about it because I really don't :p
