Bad Habits

My main bad habit is probably that of continuing to date girls after I've discovered they're (sometimes dangerously) insane*, usually because the sex is so fantastic. :$
And I also tend to chew off the skin around my fingernails when overly stressed.. never had heard of anyone else doing that, so that's kind of nice to hear.
Used to bite my nails, but managed to pretty much stop that completely, but that's when the chewing started instead, which can actually be much worse and more painful. :/
I also have some issues with letting "chores" pile up when I'm stressed, depressed, sleep deprived, or all of the above.
Not sure that's so much of a bad habit as a symptom of temporary mental illness.. :ermm:
Oh, and I probably drive with heavy metal blaring a little too loud for my ears to handle sometimes, although it's a fairly good way to stay alert if you're going long distances at night or are otherwise tired.
And I probably fantasize about killing/maiming people in creative and incredibly painful ways too often, but it seems to help me refrain from actual aggression, like playing Quake and similar games did, so..

*All girls are insane, of course, but the ones I'm typically attracted to seem to feel the need to stand out in their level of insanity.

But then I don't see it as a habit, I see it as a necessity...like oxygen :r
I now have an excuse for drinking dr.pepper.

Although I probably should try to cut down on it, just two of the normal sized bottles calculates to 116% of my RDA of sugar. That's not including my daily consumption of tea by the way :arr: .

Smoking for sure, wish I had never started, although I did quit for 5 months after my Brain incident and was told by DR's not to smoke again I started due to the return of my Panic attacks. One DR. said that 90% of his patients with Panic smoke because they think it helps, but in the long run its very bad for your Health. If you are just starting QUIT!

Gritting my teeth. Strange as it sounds, it's not a night-time phenomenon but a conscious habit with me. I do it a lot, and I'm not even sure why. They say we do it unconsciously because it's a sign of anxiety or some such, whereas I tend to do it in the day out of boredom - specifically if I haven't spoken in a while and a conversation is raging on. =P It really hurts too. >_<

I also talk to myself a lot. But I notice most civil servants do that anyway, so I figure it's a symptom of my lost soul. =r

I think the main one right now is me biting my lip. A few winters ago my lip became quite chapped and it mostly healed, but I never really stopped the habit of biting at it. I should just lace my lips with...tabasco sauce for the next week.1 :r (Although that might just mess with the healing :P )
I also pick at skin bumps/imperfections. Not really into scab-picking, but any skin around hairs that are burrowing their way out, or skin around ingrown hairs, or skin that has decided to peel for whatever reason. I suppose this kind of ties into the lip thing then. Looks like I need more tabasco sauce.2
Anyway those two are it for my self-harming bad habits. Other than that, I can't say I do anything that I really consider bad. Maybe my poor posture can be added to the list. In any case, I'm pretty sure all of these bad habits can all be solved by solving the one root problem. But screw that--tabasco is where it's at.3

1-3 Why yes, yes I do work for tabasco.

Thanks for reminding me of work, Jay :P

I have a bad habit of saying 'Pop your signature there to consent to having the scan'....it drives me nuts. I have too many automated speeches in my job already, it's rather ...crap. 'Here is your emergency buzzer, if you have any problems give it a squeeze'...'Lay down on the bed and put your head gently on the the pad with the blue paper'

o_o work is generally a repetitive habit of sorts.

I do that, for some strange reason.

Biting my nails is pretty high on the list for me. I occasionally talk to my self when doing work, I find it helps to talk through the problems out loud, even if no ones listening. :(

I have just thought of another bad habit, which is more like a foruming bad habit and that is going off topic or just typing random crap that doesn't make sense.

Hehehe anytime. =P

I know what you mean about spouting phrases and responses automatically. Whenever I'm dealing with calling back customers I often find my vast vocubalury is suddenly shrunk to "I'm genuinely sorry that happened," "You have a responsibility to..." and "I understand your frustration but..."

I also have a bad habit of talking to people as if they're deaf, repeating half the things I say and stuttering from the pressure to explain complex laws and regulations that even I don't understand in layman's terms. :matt: I think I might just start wailing and making thumping noises to disuade further queries.
