Great Britons!

It's time to brush up on those Little Britain impressions again; the eagerly awaited third series of the inspired sketch show begins this week and will feature a host of new creations alongside established favourites usch as Vicky Pollard, Emily Howard and Lou and Andy.
We will, for instance, be meeting the nerdy Dudley, whose mail-order Thai bride Ting Tong Macadangdang looks rather different in the flesh from her picture in the brochure. The creep with the comb-over spends the rest of the series unsuccessfully send her home. There's also an intriguing glimpse into the past of outsize health farm resident Bubbles, as her ex-husband Roman (played by Rob Brydon) turns up with his new partner, Desiree (an almost unrecognisable David Walliams).
And continuing the gross-out factor established by granny-fancying Jason and projectile-vomiting Maggie, there's Mrs Emery, a sweet old lady with a rather unfortunate medical condition.
Other new arrivals include Letty, an old dear with a frog obsession, Sir Norman Fry MP, whose family stand by him in troubled times, and perhaps most bizzarely, Keith Harris's Orville, seen doing his own weekly shopping.
The show's continuing popularity was celebrated last month when it's creators and stars, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, picked up yet another gong at the National TV Awards (recieved on their behalf by their mums, since the duo were on a Little Britain tour) but the pair have not been resting on their laurels.
'It's tricky introducing new faces, because people want to see the characters they know, but at the same time you don't want to do that too much,' explains David Walliams. 'Recurring characters are also difficult for a sketch show. By this stage we're almost in the realms of sitcom, so we can tell really interesting stories with them. If you've lived with the characters that long, you want to extend them.'
'Look at Daffyd,' adds Matt Lucas, warming to the theme. 'His whole identity is rested on being the only gay in the village, and he couldn't form a relationship with anyone else because it was too frightening. But now he is so well established that we can take it further and be quite bold with him. So, for example, when he leaves for London, we can play it for pathos like Billy Liar. We're most proud of characters like that, ones that have an emotional life to them.'
As well as a startling new career direction for Daffyd, the new series sees Vicky Pollard showing off her dance moves, Anne ('Eh! Eh Eeeeeh!') making an unlikely appearance on Stars in their Eyes, and Carol ('computer says no') bringing her unique public relations skills to her new job as a travel agent.
So if, as now seems likely, Little Britain runs to a fourth series, is there any danger that the pair will run out of inspiration? Matt Lucas doesn't think so. 'I was in remotest Cornwall the other day and there was absolutely nothing to do, so I went into the local bar,' he recalls. 'There was so little happening in there that all the barman could think of saying to me was, "Thursday today". He paused, before adding, "Friday tomorrow". It's never hard finding material. You just have to listen out, and the people you meet along the way write it for you.'

I. LOVE. THAT. SHOW.

Rented it from netflicks, being American and all. The "only gay in the village" thing is hilarious.

I'm sure Americans don't find it as funny as we Brits do :)

I forgot to watch it. :'( Little Britain is great, unlike some of the other newer comedy shows that have been on the BBC recently.
