Issues with emoticons; not about them being not clickable

I've noticed a problem concerning how emoticon works in posts in Zetaboards ever since I upgraded back a couple months ago.

It's that every emoticon needs to have a blank space before and after them in order for it to show up in a post.

Meaning if you add a period or comma after the emoticon, or use it in a parenthesis or quote it will not show up but instead just the code for it.

Example:

:)

:).

.:)

(:-/)

I noticed this wasn't a problem in IF. And it's bothering me since people put periods and commas after their emoticons all the time in IF, or use them in parenthesis and quotes, and now when my board is converted to ZB all the posts look inconsistent and messy. And having to always put a space after an emoticon looks weird.

Is Zetaboards aware of this issue, and will it ever be fixed??

That's known "bug", if we could call that as bug. I don't think it will be fixed anytime soon, there is a lot of better things to fix/add than this. However, You may try to "trick" the system, and use BB Tags. For example:

:r =:r, and as You can see, I put a comma near it ^_^.

I don't think it's an issue. I think it's done on purpose in case an emote trigger is part of a word or something.
