Had Macs at school, everyone hated them, they were slow and everyone else had PCs...nothing was compatable. One kid finally got pissed off at his computer and pushed it off the table.

ya, they were probibly like g2's ... if you get an imac g5 then it wont be slow or horrible.
i would go with a mac if u want to spend more money cause macs own, just do a full system restore on your pc and get some free virus protection and firewalls and then you can still play games that arent compatible with mac on it.

if you want something cheaper and better for gaming get a pc with linux like some other guys said.

Macs have better security, graphics, sound, etc. Their interface is also generally easier to use. They also have access to Safari, the best internet browser.

PCs are better for games and compatibility. They are cheaper, and can access a larger range of file types / programs. The cost you save may be made up with anti-virus programs you will have to buy, however, as those are useless to a Mac (Mac OS X has no known viruses circulating).

I personally prefer macs, because I hate computer games, and a computer that actually works is very nice to have.

As far as speed, it's a tossup at this point. It all depends on how well you treat the machine. School computers will always be slow, Mac or not, because so many people use / abuse them.

I guess I didn't make it clear that A mac is not an OS, it's hardware. The PC has better hardware, and with Linux, a better OS. If you want a more Macish PC experience, get Darwin BSD, it's based off FreeBSD, and it's the core of OXS, it has a PC port. If OSX is built on PC software, that must make the Unix family pretty damn good, especially the BSD branch. FreeBSD, or better yet, PC-BSD, is probably a good choice for you. Or, if you want true stability and security, get a Linux.

Now, for the love of [insert your god here], stop comparing PC hardware to Mac software >_<

He was obviously talking about the OS. You're just twisting it to make a PC sound better, because ooh, here comes Ubuntu. Guess what? I don't think Microsoft made Ubuntu. No, I'm pretty sure they didn't.

THANK THE ******* LORD FOR THAT!!!

We aren't comparing Windows to OSX, we are comparing Mac to PC, read the topic title no? And Ubuntu is PC software, so what's wrong with bringing it up? Why not also point out I brought up Apple's own BSD (Darwin), FreeBSD, or PC-BSD?

ROFLMFAO! Myr hates Microsoft. xD Oh wait...I'm pretty sure that Microsoft doesn't built hardware either...Hold up. Let's all think...On a recent interview on MTV Bill Gates even admitted that he wants Microsoft to stay away from hardware. >_____________>

Which one should I get next?  My current PC is littered with viruses, popups and other annoying crap that should never see the light of day.  I heard Macs received almost no viruses.  Very comforting fact.  Plus the new Tiger is supposed to be faster than the PC, and is packed with some useful features like dashboard and that search the whole computer thing ... sounds neat.

Sure, PCs have a bigger game base, but don't take that into account because I rarely ever play computer games.

Ty for the suggestions.

That's correct, few viruses are coded to affect OSX so you don't usually get any at all if you're half careful. However Tiger faster then the PC? Do you mean Tiger faster then Windows? If so I wouldn't know but I do prefer the look of OSX to Windows. :P

Anyways PC hardware is more powerful and cheaper then Mac hardware, mainly because Mac has been stuck in the same place since the G5 because of the horrendous thermals of the PowerPC architecture it uses. Thats why Apple is moving to Intel's x86 architecture and why their fastest laptops are G4. So I'd say get a PC but if you want security and reliability as well, install linux instead of Windows. I'd recommend Ubuntu or Debian.

He said that with the Xbox 360 they went with making the hardware. ;)

Mac for no viruses, nicer interface and graphic design.

PC if you are into games but preferably with Linux for no viruses. :)

I have both, so no problem. :P
