Alright, let me clear the confusion:

I meant WINDOWS and Mac. I thought that would be implied with PC, but whatever.

Continue discussion please.

I guess I didn't make it clear that A mac is not an OS, it's hardware. The PC has better hardware, and with Linux, a better OS. If you want a more Macish PC experience, get Darwin BSD, it's based off FreeBSD, and it's the core of OXS, it has a PC port. If OSX is built on PC software, that must make the Unix family pretty damn good, especially the BSD branch. FreeBSD, or better yet, PC-BSD, is probably a good choice for you. Or, if you want true stability and security, get a Linux.

Now, for the love of [insert your god here], stop comparing PC hardware to Mac software >_<

Stop trying to act smart. You know what he meant. It's an easy mistake to make. <_<

Let me assure all of you who used macs at school... they were a LOT slower. "were" as in past tense.

I used macs at school and they were crap. Recently, after purchasing a G5 mac running OS X Tiger, I have found that it is almost double the speed of my 3.6 GHz PC.

If you're going to be using Photoshop CS 2, the rendering is a lot faster on a mac.

Lastly, the issue of viruses. There are anti-virus programs availabe for Mac. They prevent Windows viruses from spreading to PC users, but the reality is, there is NOT ONE virus that affects Mac OS X Tiger in any way.

'nuff said.

That's what I've heard as well.

And for those of you who say "PC rules" or whatever, please back up your facts in an objective nature.

Kman, I only use PC for gaming and compatibility purposes. Providing you are only going to have programs such as Photoshop, etc, on there; you should be fine. I would probably take a Mac if I didn't play so many online games :)

And yes, they are Virus free ^_^

Yes but with a PC its implied that its going to be a windows box

But he didn't ask Windows or Mac OS, he asked PC or Mac, that's hardware, software doesn't matter when you compare hardware in this manner.

Mac hardware is more expensive and has less performance for the buck. When someone gets a mac, its for the OS which kman has generously proven. Stop running around being an ass.

@ Ross
They aren't virus free. They are a less targeted operating system. They still have a few virus's but alot less than the number one operating system.

Guess what? I don't think Microsoft made Ubuntu. No, I'm pretty sure they didn't.

THANK THE ******* LORD FOR THAT!!!

We aren't comparing Windows to OSX, we are comparing Mac to PC, read the topic title no? And Ubuntu is PC software, so what's wrong with bringing it up? Why not also point out I brought up Apple's own BSD (Darwin), FreeBSD, or PC-BSD?

He was clearly referencing the software. Screw the title, it's clear from his description that he was talking about XP and OS X. "Get a PC with Linux" is below a reasonable response.

For the love of Montresor, do not listen to this Pro-PC propaganda! They've never had a real experience with a Mac, so they are not trustworthy!

Macintosh are pretty fast (okay, some computers beat the G5, but I'm sure Apple will beat them in a heartbeat with a new model), especially for those who like to design lots.

By the way, you should use Virtual PC if you need to use any Windows-only programs (not for games).

That's most likely true. Any users who explain why they like mac/windows software better from now on deserves a warning for wasting my time and yours.

You have to have used BOTH WINDOWS AND MAC if you want to reply. Preferably the most up-to-date versions. I have.
