From my experience Avast is a really big resource hogger, I wouldn't personally go with it. Right now I use the free edition of AVG, it seems to work really well, I've seen a lot of reviews in publications recommending it.

I currently use AVG Free as well and I have never had a virus :). I reccomend getting AVG Free if you get anything, its better then most free virus protection software.

If there's an AVG paid version.

Is the paid version better than the free one?
