I have made a new section where things can be moved out of site of the rest of the furum and for the moderators to post relevant things, but I can't seem to find a way of making it visable to the moderators I have on the forum. Can anybody tell me where I am going wrong please? |

Permission Masks can be used to control the forums where a user can read content, reply to topics, start topics or upload content. These masks are usually applied to an entire user group, but you can apply them to individual users as well. Log into your admin control panel and select the Permission Masks link from the left hand menu. InvisionFree comes equipped with a few masks by default. They are:
1. Located near the bottom of the permission masks screen is a new category heading titled Create a new permission mask. Use the text field and drop down box to start the setup process. For clarity, name your mask "Moderator" or "Moderator Forum Mask". To save yourself some time later on, you may wish to inherit the permissions from another permission mask that has already been setup. If this option confuses you in any way, simply be sure that is set to "Do not inherit" before hitting the Create button. 2. Your new mask has been added to the list. To start the configuration process, select the Edit link, located to the right of the mask's name. Once you do this you'll be presented with a screen full of boxes that can be checked (or unchecked). This is how we can control the permissions that we'll later assign to your moderator group. Go through all your forums carefully and set which permissions you'd like your moderators to have. Don't forget to save your changes when you're finished. About Permissions : Click to Toggle 3. Your permission mask is now ready to be assigned to a user group, or individual members. Assigning to a Group: Select the Manage User Groups link on the left-hand admin CP menu. Find your moderator group and select it's "Edit Group" link. Locate the Use Forum Permission Access... option and select your newly created permission mask. Save your changes. Assigning to Single Members: Select the Find/Edit/Suspend User link on the left-hand admin CP menu. Use the available search form to locate the member you would like to apply your new mask to. Once you've found them you may edit their account details by selecting the Edit Details link. Check off the "Override Group Permission Mask with..." option and select your newly created permission mask from the list available. Save your changes. 4. To ensure that no other groups can see your moderator section, go back to the Permission Masks section of your admin CP and edit every other mask (other than the admin mask). Double check that the permissions associated with the moderator forum have not been selected. If you run into any problems please let us know. Hope you're enjoying our service. =) |
