Basically you need to have one user group for new members and another group for accounts with 100 posts, each with a different permission mask. Go to Admin CP -> Users and Groups -> Manage User Groups and edit the group for accounts below 100 posts. One of the last options is the option to allow promotion to _____ group. Set the post count to 100 and select the new user group for the option so that the members will automatically be promoted to that group at 100+ post count. Note that they need to post at least once to increase their post count in order for auto-promotion to work. Having 100+ posts already when you configure this will not automatically promote the accounts; they will need to create an additional post first. Next, you will need to set a different permission masks for the two user groups. Create a new permission mask at Admin CP -> Manage Forums -> Permission Masks. Now set one group (less than 100) to one permission mask and set the other group (100+) to another; you should have 2 masks by now since there's a default mask for Members and the one you just created. There should be an option to set a mask to a user group in Users and Groups -> Manage User Groups -> Edit Group, near the top. *Note: It's possible to use more than one mask for a user group, which I believe causes an overlap effect (haven't used it so I don't know how this would work). You can use it if you feel that you want to try that out. It's not necessary for this, so don't use it if you're not sure. Then go to Admin CP -> Forum Control -> Manage Forums -> Permissions to edit the access permissions for the different forums and masks. For the forums you want to do this with, you can toggle the "Read" option - if "Read" is unchecked for a mask, the user group with that mask assigned will not see the forum and cannot access it. So uncheck this for the mask assigned to the less-than-100 group and check this for the mask assigned to the 100+ group. |
