I am currently listening to a song ("adventures in solitude" by the new pornographers) which was featured in this week's episode of Ugly Betty. This gave me the idea that I want to hear from you what soundtracks you recommend (whether movie or TV). What has excellent music?

Recent soundtracks I've adored:
Revolutionary Road
Where the Wild Things Are
500 Days of Summer
Mad Men

Garden State
Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl
Spring Awakening
Repo! The Genetic Opera
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Lion King

And for an epic afternoon of music, try Halo, the complete soundtrack for all three games as well as the movie.

500 Days Of Summer is the best soundtrack ever! I agree with you Locke.

Other suggestions of mine are; The OC Extended Soundtrack of each Season which is around 548 songs but they're all good and likeable then there's the High Fidelity Soundtrack and Scrubs. I need to download more as I've lost touch with them but I have to watch the films first. :P

Best TV show soundtrack hands down has to be Entourage.

My favorite movie soundtracks (scores) are Pirates of the Caribbean, Ocean's Eleven and the first Harry Potter.
Remember the Titans has a great soundtrack too.

semi off topic: is 500 days of summer good? I mean it looked great, I love Zooey D and Jo Gorden Levitt, but it looked so...sad :P

I used to live in silence, I used to sleep in silence. Now all I hear is a marching of soldiers in my head.

There are many great soundtracks, some great ones in my opinion,

Air Doll
The Fountain
Across the Universe
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
Where the Wild Things Are
Silent Hill (the video games)
Assassin's Creed 2
And Shirō Sagisu's work on the whole Neon Genesis Evangelion series.

I thought it would be nice to post links to a couple of the songs I would point to as my favorites on these soundtracks.

The song that inspired this topic: adventures in solitude
Mostly instrumental, the main theme from Revolutionary Road, found here.
My favorite from the Where the Wild Things Are movie, Worried Shoes.

Geez, I can't wait to watch Where the Wild Things Are!

On topic, I recommend Cruel Intentions (the first one) soundtrack. Pretty neat. ^_^

The music can usually be the best part of a movie for me, but I don't recall many in particular that have wowed me. The Green Mile and The Patriot come to mind though, as well as the Eternal Sonata/Radiata Stories tracks as far as games go.

The best RomCom ever without a shadow of a doubt and up there with best films of all time, the only reason people tend to like it less is the ending so.

Ennio Morricone's westerns are amazing, literally. Um, Requiem For A Dream soundtrack. Pulp Fiction (obvs). Blade Runner..

Miami Vice
Blood Diamond
Appleseed
Slumdog Millionaire

Those four soundtracks have quite a bit of unique music and are quite widespread, not just simply one style!
Most Anime/Manga soundtracks are good to listen to as well. I have heard some of the Final Fantasy: Advent Children soundtrack and that pretty good!

I haven't gotten really into any full soundtracks recently. As of late I tend to like a few songs from films and just picking out the songs I like. When I did actually get into soundtracks I remember getting Freddy Vs. Jason and Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtracks and therefore getting me into Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, etc.
Way back when, I had soundtracks like Men in Black and Wild Wild West (I was a big Will Smith fan).
