Could we possibly get some of the Premium ZB features À la carte? I would pay a nominal price at this point to have e-mail notification of replies and PM's, that being missing from the regular ZB features is what's been keeping me from converting a small IF board that I have. I really don't care about the other ZB Premium features and even if I did there's no way I could afford it yearly. I hope my suggestion will be taken into consideration. Thanks |

This would be nice, as long as the prices are set up fairly for each 'feature'. |

I like this idea. And you could also set it up so that if you upgrade to ZBP, you can select X number of features, from more than what are currently offered. Edited for clarification. Edited by cnm, Jul 30 2011, 02:24 PM.

Honestly I am not sure about that. Honestly some of ZBP features just are. Like bigger wrappers or removing second ads. How much is this worth? How much is PM logging worth? I do not know how this look in America but for example here in Poland paying for money order costs me more than the selected feature I would want to buy. Generally this topics brings me a good memories about USA history. When US goverment planned budget for 1980, Your newspaper named "U.S. News" decided to cut 1$ to show citizens for what its parts are going for. Click image to see its full size: and ![]() Imagine that ZBP is just like that single 1$. How would You divide all its features that their combined cost would not be greater than original cost of ZBP? |

That's frequently the idea: Buying each item separately (or even most seperately) would/should cost more than buying them as a group - so people have incentive to do so. It's true in restaurants. It's true online.

But from the other side that 8$ for a month rather is not a big cost I think. So dividing it for a smaller pieces sounds funny. Especially paying, for example 2$ or 1 symbolic $, just for PM/E-Mail subscription, while all the other features can be get for the remaining 6$. Unless the cost for it would be count in some cents. Then this sounds more ridiculous than 1 alone $. Also, even without counting the fact who would want to deliver to Brandon 30 cents for enabling subscriptions, some features are planned to drop to free ZetaBoards boards. Sure, that will not happen until Y3K (though this topic is not about that) but in theory that feature someday may be availabe to all boards. What about people who has bought it in yearly option? Brandon will give them back their money? That 1$ and 35 cents for "unused" time? Sorry to tell that, but this topic soon will be a commedy topic.

I'm not saying I support the idea. I was just pointing out that if it were to happen, I imagine "a la carte" features would be more expensive bought individually than in a package.

But what about if I want a starter in said restaurant and want to skip the main course and pudding? I think that's what they're getting at. |

Out of curiousity, how would you price each feature? Would it surprise you to know that the most resource intensive (and therefore likely to be the highest priced) feature is probably email notifications? |

If the email notifications worked for Admins, regarding PMs received or (more importantly) reported posts/PMs, that would be something I'd definitely use. I have no need for the thread subscription email notification, and my members don't seem to much care one way or the other. But I would love to have an email auto-generated if I receive a PM or something's been reported. I'm looking at the Premium as more for the Admins than the members though, since it's (at least in our case) the Admin who's paying for it. I'm not sure how I personally would price each feature. The current breakdown is $8/month for (please correct me if I'm wrong): Admin accessible PM logs Admin / Moderator accessible Edited Post logs Larger Board Wrapper PM/Email based topic subscriptions Board email frequency Updated ZetaBoards copyright Removal of the second ad for large boards AMT Usage Admin Digest Length Admin Digest Availability Warning System PM Tracking Honestly, I'm only really interested in the Edit History and Warning System PM Tracking. So right now I figure I'm paying $8/month for two things. Granted, I may very well be in the minority, and others may use all of the features, or only a few, but different than the ones I purchased ZBP for. But if I'm paying $8/mo for two things, and you offered a la carte @ $3/feature, I'd be saving $2. (Yes, I know it's cheaper for yearly, etc., but I'm trying it out to see if it's worth it).If you offered a la carte features at $5 each, then I'd stick with ZBP as is and hope features I'm needing that aren't currently offered on Premium will be added down the road. It is what I'm doing currently. I was saying in an if...then scenario it's what I'd do. Was I confusing? |

The problem with a la carte features is that it is under the assumption that there will be no more featured added to ZBP. What's probably going to happen is they are going to eventually add more features to ZBP that you would want which would end up with you paying more then you would if you just paid for ZBP outright. |

That as well. Plus, when we can, we add sneak peak features to ZB Premium such as we did with the shoutbox. I know of at least one that's coming to Premium shortly. |
