I was looking on here and couldn't believe that no one else has said anything about it yet. I'm a die-hard Alabama fan, but I have to take my hat off to Texas, they had me scared in the second half. Gilbert really stepped up in that game and showed that he's worthy of taking McCoy's spot next year. It's not often when you see a freshman making plays like he did, especially against a defense like Alabama's. Really and truly, that was not Alabama's best game either. They started out looking more like a high school team than the team that steamrolled Florida in the SEC championship game. And Colt wasn't the only QB who was injured as McElroy came into the game with 2 cracked ribs from the Florida game in December. |

hey, a fellow Bama fan ![]()
yeah, very true. it was probably my least favorite game they played all year (short of auburn, maybe). i love that the defense stepped up though, and really clinched it in the end. i would like to see what would have happened had we played mccoy. the whole game would have been different. |

You've got that right. I noticed a few strange calls on the offense. Like when they put Cody in on offense. He opened a huge hole in the defensive line and Ingram didn't even run to his side! I mean, Mt. Cody took out 2 of the Texas guys and Ingram could have gotten 2x as far if he'd have just followed his blockers. Didn't matter in the end, as they were only about 1 yard from the goal after the play, but it didn't make much sense either way. |

yeah, i know what you mean. i feel like they could've used cody as a blocker better than they did. i'm hoping they'll take him aside in the summer and teach him how to carry a football. line him up at fullback and let somebody try to tackle him.

Gilbert did an excellent job, considering he wouldn't have expected he would be playing. I thought that many of the commentators did him a disservice the next day by asking "what would have happened if rookie mistakes hadn't been made." The truth is that McCoy and Texas were going to lose no matter what. Their schedule was weak and they were nearly beat by two teams that shouldn't have been able to put up a fight if they were as good as the talk makes them. By the end of the season, I felt like we had another USC on our hands. Alabama played a good game and deserved to win. |

speaking of the commentary, i thought it was in terrible taste that the only thing the announcers could talk about whenever ingram scored was his father. not that they weren't saying good things about him or his relationship to his son, but it just felt so rude. especially on the winning touchdown... "sentencing" and "arraignment" are not words that need to be associated with that moment in ingram's career. |

Cody is a senior this year, but maybe the Senior Bowl coaches will see the sense in putting him in as an O-line player or back during a running play. I might even see if I can grab a ticket from someone and see it in person, Mobile, AL, is not really that far from where I live. |
