Your Neighborhood

When I was younger, we really didn't have any. Living in the middle of nowhere ftw.

When I got around the age of 10ish we actually had neighbours, but they either had no kids or their kids were much older.

Now, most of my neighbours are students and I only see them in the hallways or not at all.

I live in an interesting area... while I'm only a mile away from a town, the road that leads to that town branches out from it and separates us from it. So I'm close to civilization but my immediate area is rather rural. Owing to this, I only have 3 immediate neighbors in the area. Facing towards the road:

On my left I have some neighbors that have lived there for a while. I don't talk to them much and indeed I've only been inside of their house once or twice, but that's where my mom lived when she was growing up. I could probably pick them from out of a lineup, though. They're an interesting couple... one of them is a Christian and the other is Buddhist. Oh, and they have a dog who can bark for hours on end. Believe me, I know. :P

On my right, up the hill, is where my grandparents live, so I could obviously pick them out of a lineup. I go up there almost daily. The neighbors on my left bought their house from my grandparents and my grandparents moved into their old grandparents' house. That old house has burned since, but they rebuilt it in the same spot.

Then across the road from my grandparents live two more people. I could recognize the male out of that group, but not the wife. The wife works in a location about an hour away and she drives to and fro there every single day. A bit ridiculous if you ask me, but ah well.

So yeah, for the most part, I can recognize my neighbors pretty easily.

When I was younger we lived in a neighborhood with mostly families and children our ages. Because we all played together we knew who all of the neighbors were.

Now that we live in a more secluded area, without other teenagers, I say hello to my neighbors every now and then and have stopped to chat occasionally with one woman. But if I had to pick any of the neighbors out of a line up I probably wouldn't be able to!

At home, I can recognize all of my neighbors, and I would say I know most of them. I grew up in a small town, on an even smaller street. We all played with each other when we were younger, and block parties/barbecues were common for dates like the 4th of July. We've grown apart since we've grown older, and one or two families have moved. They've been replaced by rather unfriendly and unsociable people, but it doesn't really matter.

At college, I can definitely recognize all of my neighbors. I live across the hall from two good friends. :P

I was pretty close to my neighbors growing up, I talked to most of them.

At college, however, I know absolutely no one in my dorm. It's a ghost dorm!
