Like Fiona, I don't study much. My dad and I have close to a photographic/eidetic memory, so for must subjects, like humanities (history, literature, languages), I can just listen during lecture and do fine. For sciences and math, I have to actually read the textbook somewhat, even if it's just skimming. I usually listen to music when I do that, or put a TV show on. Background noise helps me think better. |

I have a photographic memory so I can remember pretty much remember everything from lectures that I actually pay attention to. Otherwise, I find pacing while I study helps me retain stuff so much more.

I have to be in total silence with no distractions whatsoever. I do it late at night and early in the morning the day before the test or whatever. I rarely read textbooks; usually my notes are good enough. |

This. I do take notes occasionally, though... usually just to look attentive. Most of the teachers in my school get angry if they catch you not taking notes. Bleh. |

Sorry to bump this as its a little old, but oh well. I use this method as well, picked it up in my first year of college from a teacher, though I just call it a web haha. Anyway, I find it much more helpful than traditional notes, as I can actually view the connections I've made from the info in class rather than just reading things I mindlessly copied down just to have notes. |

I pay attention in my classes and take good notes, so when it comes test time I usually only do a quick review to make sure I have everything down. I have a pretty good memory so the only tests I've ever really stressed over are the big unit and final exam. |

I find the web technique very helpful as well. Just simple words or phrases connecting to each other feels like a catalyst to other ideas for me. However to memorise stuff I just can't sit and read it over, I find movement helps me. I remember having an oral exam and to study for that I did push ups and read out my lines; worked very well due to the mark I got
