Wow, that was a good episode.. Until I fell asleep half way through it. Luckily, I've got it on DVR, so it's all good.

Caprica is the Battlestar Galactica spin-off, right? |

It's set fifty years before BSG, making it a prequel. It goes into depth about the creation of the Cylons and such. |

Quantum-locked when observed.

Although I find Caprica promising so far, it's not great yet. Since we're only two episodes into a the new series, that's not much of an evaluation, and I'll keep watching. However, considering that Battlestar Galactica hooked us with a miniseries, Caprica has big shoes to fill indeed. Which is not to say that I'm looking for a BSG clone or even a replacement for BSG. However, its lineage means Caprica has within it the seeds of greatness. So far, however, they show little sign of flourishing. For example, the intense examination of religion on BSG is absent in Caprica. There are religious issues, but for the most part the monotheism versus polytheism debate is plot-driven. Spoiler: click to toggle The only character in whom I have any interest is Zoe-A, because she is, in a sense, completely new. She's not human, but she is human. Her conflict will be the most interesting. I just hope it isn't reduced in every episode to something as inane as biting off a lab techie's finger. |

Just watched the second episode last night. I have to say it's really not all that entertaining so far. There's none of the excitement of survival and war like in Battlestar Galactica and the plot seems convoluted. Come to think of it, there's really no excitement whatsoever. I'd prefer if they jumped into the first Cylon war. That'd be interesting. |
