Comcast to Xfinity and beyond

A blast from the past.

So starting on the 12th Comcast will start to re-brand it self as Xfinity in some markets, then move on to other markets.

Really? I mean other then from 50Mbps to 100 there is no point. Then take in to account my overly analytical/thinking/what ever of a brain sees the name as this.

Finite - a limited amount, subject to depletion.
Infinity - an unlimited amount.

So how I see it is that Comcast X'd out the "in" in infinity to say that their products are limited....

But what about X's significance as an anti, Aaron--what about it?!!?3lfdd :r
When you X something, you're saying, 'no, that's not right.'
X = No
Xfinity = No Finity
No Finity = Infinite

And there you have it, folks, fighting overanalysis with overanalysis. =D

Look at it the other way. They'd really be screwed if they didn't X out the "in" in infinity.

Customer: By your name I assumed I would have an infinite number of television channels.
Customer: By your name I assumed I would have an infinite amount of time to pay my bill.
Customer: By your name I assumed I would be able to look at an infinite amount of porn on the Internet... Never mind, I do.

Comcast was quite annoying when I used it.

The name holds some risk, but also is kind of clever. I'm not so concerned about the name, but rather the service.

Rebranding when there is no obvious need to do so seems very foolish for Comcast.
