Board Address: My Test Forum Type of Request: Script Description: --Hello everyone, I'm looking for a code that would enable me to hide the forum's stylesheet when viewed ala page source in browsers. I want to protect my stylesheets from easily being copied and taken. Is this even possible? Also do IF and ZB forums support external stylesheets? Would it be possible to use external stylesheets when skinning forums? How does one actually do that? Thank you in advance for those taking the time to help me~ Edited by cinnamonblue16, Mar 18 2010, 02:39 PM.

I've seen people attempt advance ways to hide the CSS source code, but in reality it really isn't possible, or even plausible for that matter. People will always find ways to 'steal' your source code, you just need to make sure to protect it in different ways. If you use an external CSS file, you could always delete it if you see another board using it, then just simply re-upload your CSS and use the new file instead. Be sure and put a copyright in the CSS source code (with HTML comments, preferably in the middle) so it'll have an intellectual property statement in it. People that just copy and paste the CSS likely won't bother looking over it, and the statement will provide one way to identify the original creator. In my long years of being an administrator of two active boards, I only ran into one instance in which someone was using our CSS without our permission. A swift action was taken, and they removed the CSS from their board, so it's really just a matter of taking the proper actions. If a user refuses to remove your original work, then you can always file a report. Admin CP Skinning & Styles Board Wrappers JavascriptThere's how to use an external CSS file on InvisionFree. ZetaBoards uses external files by default. |
