Get TweakUI... Its a microsoft program that can do a lot of things by editing your registry.

Hmm... Doesn't really bother me.
Programs are alot easier to access when they are on the desktop. :)

It depends how you have everything else set up. My desktop does not have any icon on it, what so ever. I use my quick-launch bar for a few things, and I have a little tab that you can click next to the quick-launch bar that brings up several other programs in the internet/media catagory. I am using the default Windows XP Start Menu, so it shows all of my recently open programs. (And I don't use many programs at a time). Otherwise, if I want to use other programs in the All Programs section, they only take a second to find, as they are all organized.

Who needs icons?

Couldn't you just untick 'Show Desktop Icons'? :r

I agree with FusionX, less icons looks nicer.

I don't have it as extreme as 0, but I only have 2. I have Firefox in the upper left hand corner, and the Recycling Bin in the lower right hand corner. That and Rainlendar in the top right makes my desktop look rather sleek and minimalistic.
