The short answer is, it lets you put things on the Portal (both from the board itself and outside on the web) and control where they display (top/bottom, left/middle/right). ?? |

Does Portal refer to the button in our forum which shows the most recent 10 posts? That is the thing I would like to be able to add to or change the formatting on. |

I don't quite recognize it from your description, sorry, (it's not a button on many themes) but yes, if you click on "portal" it will take you to the portal page where the most recent posts appear. And here's the documentation. |

Hi silvershoes, Thanks for your responses. I tried adding a content block to my Portal and it shows up when I click on the Portal button. What I don't know now is how do I get it to select the content? For instance, there's a box that shows the last 10 posts on the forum. And there's another one that shows the Active Users, so both of these have a title - Latest Posts & Active Users - and these then look for the information. If I enter content into my content box, it's just stagnate content. In other words, if I write down Latest Active Users to get a list of the last 10 members who posted, there's no coding to go look for that information. How can I add something that will give active content to the Portal? Also, where it has Latest Posts, is there any way for me to expand on this information? I would like the normal information about who started the thread, when it was started and when it was last posted to, etc. Is there any way to add this to the Portal window? Thanks. Zed |

Hi, Zedboards, You probably need scripts for those if you want to pull the info from your board. The nice thing about the portal is that it handles scripts really well and it also does HTML. So you can embed an iframe, for example. Have you looked over on the resource board? They have everything but the kitchen sink over there, and if they don't have exactly what you want you can request it.

Hi silvershoes, We've used a lot of scripts in our Board Template, but I don't know how to put a script in so it will show up in the Portal. It would not be something to be entered into the Content box when you add something to the Portal, would it? I will check the Resource Board, because I can probably find something just by doing a search for portal. Zed |

Yes, in general you would add the script to a portal block if you wanted it just to appear in the portal For example if you wanted to add a script that would link to a news feed you would put in the portal block for whichever part of the portal you wanted to place it in. You would have to make sure you change the drop down box from Plain Text with BBCode to HTML or all that would appear is the raw code |

Thanks peteh, When I click on the Portal button for this forum, I see there is an amazing amount of information. I guess I need to try and find this info over at the Resources board. Thanks. Zed |

I've been trying to figure out how to get the portal to give the last 10 topics in the same format as the Active Topics. Is that even possible? |
