Server 1?

Why do all new zetaboards get put on server 1? It always seems like there is some sort of issue with that server. I've been wanting to start a second board but have been very reluctant. I don't want a board on a server that isn't reliable. Just curious. Thanks.

I am sure that the only way you are placed on another server is if you decide to convert an Invisionfree forum.

Well, Good Luck.

Theoretically You can trick the system. Register an IF board, then convert it to ZB. That will take a second or two. Then Your new ZB board won't be on server 1 but on another server.

doh! But of course. That's a good idea. Thanks! :)

To bad server 1 is such an issue at times though. Wonder why. Thanks again!

Because it is turned on. Servers have issues regardless of who owns them. All they are, are computers in cages. Or racks. Or old rusty shelving units. Our downtime is simply noticed more due to the high level of users on that specific server. A website about an old woman's cat may go down for several hours, but no-one will notice if the site is rarely visited.

From what I've read you remain on whatever server you are on - The only way it's possible it appears to get onto another server is by converting from InvisionFree to Zeta.

hmm, I wonder about that. You make sense of course, but it really does seem that server 1 always has some sort of issue come up. A lot more than the other servers. If what you say is true, why not just place new boards on different servers instead of just one? But no worries. I'm not complaining about it. Just thinking out loud, lol. Thanks for your replies. :)

Well you have to remember that all new ZB boards are registered on server 1. I don't know the stats for each server or anything, but since all new boards go to server 1, I'd imagine it has the biggest workload out of all of them. More work means more strain, and no server is perfect.

Boards are placed onto server one because it is mostly empty compared to others. Once it reaches the set limit, registration will move on to another server. Do remember, much data was lost from server one when it crashed; thus effectively freeing up space.

*gives everyone a confidence boost* :r

Each server has been specifically optimised for the software, so daily load won't affect things as much as if I uploaded the files; and ran a board on my hosting account.

Moving from server to server is not a service offered; nor will it likely ever be.

Tony hasn't heard anything from server 13 lately . . .

Recall that that was IF's z1, which is now ZB's s2.

Some servers may seem to have more problems, but no matter where you are all servers will have some issues. Our servers do quite well even with the occasional hiccup. Even s1: I'm pretty sure this is the first I've heard of any major issues.
