In the recent update we had a [member] BB Code, but how's about one for [guest]? I'd rather not use a 3rd party modification as simply turning of JS will allow members to see the content, when it's only suitable for guests (and hence members with JS disabled will also see it). Will we be seeing something similar in the next update?

On top of that, being able to make staff notes with [staff] or something similar would be convenient. :)

[staff] is something I support. Although any [guest] should be admin or staff only or even be able to turn off, all controlled in the Admin CP. Also instead of displaying a message like what happens with the guest BBCode it should just disappear.

[staff] already more or less exist as a "hidden message". However, like every other idea, I'm also supporting this.

[staff] already more or less exist as a "hidden message".
That way is also a "major inconvenience" especially if the note absolutely needs to be read with the post, but it can't because you had to make a reply three posts down and hide it.

You have the point here and I need to agree with You. However, that possible [staff] tag needs to be written in another colour than board colour. CSS controlled. While other Members don't need to know that given post they are reading is between [member] tag (but would be good, if they could be aware of that, and if [member] tag also could be CSS controlled), Staff must be aware that what they are reading is only for their eyes. Also, that "staff note" needs to be highlighted somehow, so I would be able to notice it in a long post or topic.

I completely agree with that, too. It's vital for staff notes to be visibly separated from the rest of the stuff (unlike the Member tag).

[Hidden Content: Login/Register to View]

The member BBCode is this:
Code: HTML

<span title="Hidden From Guests">The stuff between the member tags goes here.</span>
There are other things that use <span>, so it may or may not be CSS-controllable currently (I don't think you can pick span elements based on their title, but if I'm wrong please let me know), but I do know you can do this with jQuery:
Code: HTML

<script type="text/javascript">
$("span[title=Hidden From Guests]").css("background","url(http://images.com/of/puppies.png)").css("color","#fff");
</script>
Or something like that.

The "staff" BBCode has technically been made already...it's in the "Best BBCode Tag EVER!" or w/e v3.1. There's a [note] tag in there, only viewable while editing your post, and after that is another [note] tag but always viewable by staff, editing or not.

Yes, but the BBCode script is JavaScript (like all the other scripts), and JS can be disabled in-browser, making all those staff notes not really staff notes.
Some kinds of BBCode are OK to put in a code. [staff] is not.

Ah, I get it now. Putting it in ZetaBoards's backbone will be better than just putting it into the Board Template. I see. :P
