Board Address: private Board Software: zeta Description: is there a way to make it so if a posted image extends past the width of the board that it only stretches that one post instead of all the posts on that page? also, if there's a way to make it so the board's outline/border doesn't stretch with the post either, that would be great. I know it works differently, but I recently saw it on a vbulletin forum, so that's how I got the idea. I'm posting a mockup example I made in photoshop: ![]() notice how the post above and below are not stretched and that the blue/white border/outline is behind the stretched post. if this can be done, or something close to it, that would be great. thanks in advance! It's normal to see some stretching when users post large images. There are a variety of factors that might cause this, such as low screen resolution, a smaller forum width, and large images that nobody should be forced to view on any resolution. ZetaBoards allows you to conveniently resize your images so that users can see a thumbnail of your graphic before choosing to view it. Here's an example for you. I have a large green block image. Here's the web address where you can find it: http://z1.ifrm.com/0/2/0/f5002916/green_block.png I will now use BBCode to re-size the image, and link to it so that others can view it directly. ![]() Here is the BBCode I used to make this happen:
Not only does this method solve your problem of page stretching, but it also shows you the dynamic power of the BBCode that ZetaBoards offers. Finally, it's considered polite to reduce the size of large images for other users who may not be using a high resolution monitor. Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks for the response. I'm aware of that function, but it's hard to constantly monitor every post to ensure that members are correctly using bbcode to resize their images. and some members are too lazy and/or...not bright enough to mess with it, despite how easy it is. we need something automated. I tried using a code that automatically resizes images in posts, but when posts with images were quoted (especially after 2-3 levels of quoting), the quote blocks shifted the image to the right each time and caused the board to stretch, despite the auto-resize. that won't work for us, unless I want to limit all images to be as small as the one you posted...but I'd rather not do that. ideally, we don't want people to have to click every single image to be able to view it properly. if it is possible, a code that stretches just that particular post would be ideal. thanks! |

What about using CSS to intervene when a max limit has been surpassed? I'm thinking something like this: .c_post img { max-height: 800px; max-width: 800px; } This way, the image will only be resized if it's absolutely too large to fit on your forum. (You'll have to play with the limits, of course.) Edited by RyanF, Jul 28 2010, 10:45 PM.

thanks for the response. your idea poses the same issue I quoted above, and then also removes the ability to see the image at its full size. Edited by Reedus-ZNR, Jul 28 2010, 10:56 PM.
