I'm having a problem with some posts on an InvisionFree board. I get a little square box with FF over FD inside it in place of commas or quotation marks on some posts made by other members. Not all. It only happens with a couple of members' posts while others work fine. Any ideas? |

Are other members having this problem? If not, then it might be a problem with your browser. IE stinks. |

It may be related to the Character Encoding you use in Firefox. Those usually show as question-marks however. Can you possibly take a screen shot of the boxes? |

Silly me, forgot to say: I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 It doesn't show in Internet Explorer (which I can only run without addons or it just doesn't start). ![]() That's a cropped screen cap (so you don't have all the other rubbish that's irrelevant). It seems to only be on the quotation marks for that member but on another post it puts the same symbol in for quotes and for apostrophes. So I know it's got to be a setting somewhere in FF ~sighs~ just wish I could figure out exactly which one. I don't seem to have the problem on any other Invision boards... so is it possible it could have something to do with the settings those players are using? |

Character Encoding. ![]() In Firefox, select View from the top menu; and navigate through to Character Encoding - Auto Detect - Universal. (Or that is the path on Linux; not sure about other systems. Possibly the same.) This should correct the issue.

Yeah I checked that... and it's already set on that. I'll keep experimenting/exploring but thanks for your time. ETA: Okay so I fiddled around and managed to fix the problem, however, if I refresh the page, the character encoding switches back to unicode (UTF-8) so for the moment I've switched off auto-detect and I'll see how I go.
