Do I desire to learn the motives behind this insanity?

You see, I have a Mac in my room (hand-me-down from my uncle). Version-wise, it's a Mac OS 9.1, and ROM 6.7.1. My Mac is not connected to the Internet (and it's also impossible for it to be able to connect; we looked into connecting it and it won't work). For music, I always use iTunes because I can access all my MP3s and such on there in one single program full of organized playlists without having to shift through folders. The MP3s themselves are RealPlayer MP3 files. A while ago, iTunes stopped working properly. Every time I try to open it, the computer stops for about 15-30 seconds, and then says the following: The iTunes Music Library cannot be read due to an unknown error (-36). iTunes has never done that before for me on my Mac. Has anyone else encountered this error before? And how can I fix it? |

Mac OS 9? Try checking the iTunes files. Did it accidentally get deleted? What version of iTunes is it? |

Yes, Mac OS 9. I checked the iTunes folder, and I found the following: iTunes (the program itself) About iTunes (About iTunes) -Plug-Ins folder (Folder containing plug-ins for iTunes) Besides from the Plug-ins folder containing more folders for the plug-ins, that's it. I don't recall deleting anything from the Mac Drive or any of the vital areas. And the version...I don't remember what the version was, but, going off from a guess here since the About iTunes file said "last updated January 8, 2001", it was either 1.0, which is likely, or 2.0.4. |

I mean the place where the music is stored. In Mac OSX it's ~User Name~ - Music - iTunes - iTunes Media - Music. Also, try Disk Utility/Repair (not sure what it's called in Mac OS 9). |

Ah, right. The files themselves are always in a MP3s folder I keep on my desktop screen, so G4 (name of Mac and desktop) > MP3s, the folder. And looking into the disk repair stuff. |

Can't update it if my Mac's not connected to the Internet and will never be able to connect. Anyway, I believe I found what would be the "disk repair" on my Mac, but it didn't do anything to fix the problem, if anyway. |

He has Mac OS 9, so he can't. Try copying the songs to a flash drive, if your Mac has a USB. Then install them in iTunes for Windows. |

What does that have to do with anything? I don't know because I have little experience with Macs. |

Always look out for the latest versions. I use iTunes myself. But i always get all nofications when the latest versions arrives from the apple company. Of i pod shuffle and iTunes and etc. So u may need to update to the next version as the old version would of have an out of date upon it. like all techincal softwares and etc that we buy and update within all our lives. It's a never ending process always.

Except that he has Mac OS 9, which is incapable of upgrading to a better version. |
