Fernicia looks at other browsers.
Opera: Good but is missing a lot
Chrome: Too centralised
IE: Still has technical and rendering limitations
Firefox: Has everything I want

I was referring to the fact you're now using IE 7 according to your profile. That's the problem with performing a big update to a drop-down choice profile field - it screws up everyone's choice. :P

But on a side note: FireFox is crap in every way.

Pando-ZNS re-looks at them from memory.

Opera: Good, has features I want for browsing, but also lacks a lot, including some CSS3 that I use.
Chrome: Lacks too many features that I want, and I think the look of it sucks.
IE: I only have IE 5 on my computer. 'nuff said.
Safari: Would be good, but lacks features I want and is WAY too slow.
Firefox 3: My dream browser. Speed isn't too bad, has all the features I want, and lots of add-ons that I can't live without.
Firefox 4: Speed is a little better, has all the features I want, but so far a lot of my add-ons don't work with the beta and like Chrome I don't like its look (though it's better than Chrome).

Oh, it was the profile field :P

Chrome shall be my choice for a while - the forum knows that, so it left it be in my Profile apparently. ;)

2 weeks ago. Not a very exciting release, though.

There are quite a few things that I've become particularly fond of in Chrome:

- The removal of "http://"
- The fact that if you close or move off of a page by accident and have inputted some kind of text in to a post or something, then you can just go back to that tab real fast and get it back. Saves me a lot of headaches. :D

I'm not sure if the other browsers have updated to those things as well since I've last used them, but I don't necessarily need to find out either. ;)

I know if you move off a page in Firefox 3.6 the text will remain (not if you refresh the page), I never tested out the closing a tab/window in Firefox.

Except in rare situations, I've never seen a browser not do that. Even IE back when I still used it. :P

I think you missed a little bit...
Isn't Opera more centralized than Chrome? You know, web browser + mail client + IRC client + ... :P
Also, what does Firefox have that Opera doesn't? ;)

Finally, about IE.... ugh, IE.
IE9. It's actually quite an improvement. Not exactly worth flocking back to IE for, but the hardware acceleration is pretty great, and it actually complies with modern web standards. ;)
Of course, unless Microsoft gains the ability to force-upgrade everyone to IE9 once it's released, we'll be forced to stick with supporting the older IEs. Bleh. :(

CSS gradient support, tons of add-ons, and the ability to not record history without being in private mode B-)

CSS3 isn't finalized yet, so it doesn't even matter yet. It, like HTML 5, still has a lot of time to go. I can't really knock it for not being too far ahead of its time (because if other browsers aren't that far, nobody will use it anyway :P ) (unlike IE, which CAN be knocked for being too far behind ;) ).
In fact, I'd go so far as to say I don't really care for when browsers get too far ahead (which is strange, considering I'm a huge advocate of the future :P ) because when the time comes around for it to work properly and it's standardized (complete with proprietary prefixes removed), it only works in whatever few rendering engines they decided to code it for, and people keep the practice of using the proprietary prefixes for much longer than necessary. I can understand why they're there (development purposes), but I really hate proprietary CSS property prefixes.

Opera 11 introduces add-ons, mostly to make people like you shut up, since all/most of the functionality you really need is already in the browser core. :P As such, the number of existing extensions is small, but growing fast.

Um, what is private mode other than a way to make it not record history? :P If you're actually making it not record any of your history, it's still private mode regardless of what you call it (history disabled mode or what-have-you). Unless I'm somehow misunderstanding this point. Which I doubt.
