I'm curious if there is any way to get the database information from my forum (posts, members, etc. The general setup) and convert it to another type of forum on another domain? I'm considering a domain purchase of my own and intend on hosting on a friend's server, free of charge with no ads. But I need my board's "stuff" if you understand me, haha, so I can convert it to work on a phpBB3 type forum. Is there any way Zetaboards allows this kind of retrieval for people looking to move their forum to a new host? |

It is not possible to convert from ZetaBoards to another type of forum software at this time. Are you aware you can use your own domain name with your ZetaBoard? Also, you can purchase ad removal if you prefer not having ads. I realize this is not as ideal a solution as using your friend's server, but I want to make sure you are aware of your options. |

Yes, I am aware of that, thanks. But considering pricing, the obvious choice would be to go with my friend's server. Ridiculous notion to pay for something I could get for free. Also, is it not possible to ask for the proper information in order to convert ZetaBoards into another forum? I don't even want the layout really. I just want the member information and post content, really. |

Unfortunately not. We hope to be able to offer conversions in the future, but I have no estimate of when that would be, and I know that is not very helpful for you right now. :-/ |

It won't be too big of a hassle since I only have a handful of members anyway. But I'll have to sacrifice all of our content. Which still isn't much, but I suppose it's not a big loss. Thanks anyway. |

You guys have been saying that since at least 2008. That's three years now. Stop stringing us along and make some progress on it. This is getting ridiculous. Here you go guys... here's a way to convert to phpbb or smf. There's no reason why they can't give you an option to export all of YOUR data that they have. <snip> //Clay Edited by Clay, Jan 9 2011, 07:24 PM.

Thanks, this is really helpful. When I get my domain up I'll try this out. It says I can only convert zetaboards to phpbb2 or smf though. But I suppose after I convert to one of those I can convert again to phpbb3 or vBulletin. |
