Hey there,

First of I love the invisionfree board and I use it as a basis for all boards that I use. Anyhow, The problem at the board that I am posted about, it is the one linked to on this profile, is the fact that the original Admin of the board began messing around, causing distruption, hacking into other peoples accounts and pretending to be them etc. Usually I would just walk away but the problem is that this is a work forum for an online game development.

It's crucial to our work and holds a lot of important data, is there anyway that we can show details of this behaviour and pass the control of the forum onto someone else, or such? I know this is a bit unusual but surely there must be something in place if the original owners of the board cause so many disruptions and problems [bear in mind that they left the development, gave the admin controls over to another person but came back later on to cause havoc and ruining our hard work].

I hope to hear from someone soon, thanks in advance.

Regards.

The short answer is no, not unless this individual is violating the Terms of Use or engaging in illegal activity.

The general rule is that Brandon and the staff won't interfere with a board because of problems arising from internal politics. The key issue here is that the original administrator is by definition* the owner of the board. Even if they step back and become inactive, whomever controls the ROOT (founding) account controls the board. All other administrators are ultimately subordinates; any other authority they assume (defining themselves as owners or leaders) is in name only. Ultimately this means that the owner may do as he or she pleases [within the confines of the law and the Terms of Use] so whilst this disruption is detrimental to the work that goes on, they may do as they wish. As frustrating as it would be, an owner could happily wipe all content without reason or consultation.

If you have evidence of anything violating the ToU, you can submit a report. I'd be negligent however to not point out that transferring ownership to another individual is not practised here as a result of any complaint or report. An owner may be warned, even have their board shut down, if they violate the Terms or the law but they won't be ousted from their board in favour of another person. They must freely hand access to the owner account over to another person and the staff do not mediate such issues.

If this person has any shred of humanity (and even when they act out, an idiot is still a person) your only hope is to talk with them, try to negotiate something and see if they will pass control of the ROOT account to an active administrator.
