I don't know if this will make sense or not, but I've noticed several guests lately, and when I checked, they were web crawlers and spiders!! Which is great. However, is there a way of actually making them appear in the active user list? For example whenever anyone is logged in, you can see them, (even the invisible ones) but you can't *see* the bots. I only know it's a bot/web crawler or spider if I check. Does this make sense? I just tried to change the colour of guests, so they would show up in green but it doesn't seem to have worked. I used to have validating in green so I thought I'd change them to black and guests to green, but it doesn't seem to have worked, guests are still in black. Hmm well all that seems to have happened is, the guest IP number is green, but not the actuall guest, if that makes sense. Why did it work for every other group but not guests? Or is black a guest default colour? Either way I'd still like them to show in the active user list. Ok I've managed to change the colour of guests. I was putting it in the wrong box, derrrrrrrr lol. What I still want to know is, will search engines show up as guests? Or do I have to make search engines a different group? I just want them to appear in the on line list that's all. Does that make sense? Ok I know this is the third time today I've edited this post but I think I've worked it out. I made a new group called Search Engines and gave it the same permissions as members, so that would be right wouldn't it? The only thing they can't do obviously is post, but they can view all the forums and that's what matters. Did I do it right? I've decided to give search engines the same permissions as guests rather than members. Would that be better? |

Since you can't make the "spiders" register on the board, they are always just going to show up as guests, just like every other random passer by to the board. The only way I can think you'll see them is if you check, like you said. |
