Everyone's doing it. Peer pressure and all.

Hi. I'm Jeremy. I used to be a Community Mod around here way back in the day. Some people tell me that I was scary. Others just won't stop hugging me. I don't really understand all of that. :r

Since these kinds of topics are usually pretty narcissistic by design, I'm not going to feel bad talking about myself at pretty great length.

Currently 23, will be 24-years-old in June. I've been involved in computers and such for the majority of my life. Took up programming at the slightly ripe age of 13 (wish I would've been able to start earlier) which has resulted in quite a lot of time spent at a keyboard. I've done a lot of development work in a lot of different places and even went so far as to move out of my parents' house at (what I consider to be) the very early age of 18 to take a job and move across the country to Colorado where I worked for a company doing some pretty cool web stuff. Lots of web services design and development, in both C# and PHP, with some work in a Flex-based client for consuming them back when Adobe Flex was in its infancy.

After moving on from there, I did a lot of consulting work so that I could sort of be my own boss and set my own hours for a while. That was fun, right up until the economy started tanking and the work dried up, for the most part. I took a full-time job at my current place of employment doing Systems Engineering / Systems Administration (Linux, Solaris, and Windows). Involves lots of scripting in things like Bash, Perl, Python, PHP. Some web development for nifty tools that help make our work generally easier. I've submitted patches for bug fixes on C/C++ and C# code to our core development team and help in the planning/design/architecture of features that come out of that group. So, I've sort of been around a bit ...

My current endeavors with the intarwebs include my own personal YouTube channel (subscribe!). I play a lot of games. I tend to record myself playing a lot of those games and upload them, usually with some kind of commentary. I'm also currently helping design, architect, and develop a new style and type of video site specifically tailored to gamers called GamerDorm. This is a bit of a joint venture between me and a bunch of the members of Team EnVyUs. You might've heard of them. They're an MLG Pro Call of Duty team. The guys from EnVyUs have been super busy with the GameStop Black Ops Finals that were in February. Their team OE Gaming, which was a combination of 2 Envy and 2 OpTic players, won the Xbox 360 Finals. They're also super busy preparing for MLG Dallas which is coming up soon, so GamerDorm is a little behind schedule. Ignore any dates you see on that landing page.

I very recently hit 1,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel and I've been doing a LOT of playing with subscribers and Twitter followers. If you're interested in playing Call of Duty or other games with me, the best way to know when I'm playing and to get invited is to subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow me on Twitter. Looking forward to maybe playing with some of you.

I'll see you around these forums and hopefully elsewhere.

So you don't have your degree - mostly experience? What was your favorite thing to code? :)

Yeah. I actually dropped out of college to take the job in Colorado. My favorite thing to code is usually "whatever I'm coding right now" ... :P I'm currently writing a MUD in Java in my spare time as an exercise to learn more Java. It's one language I haven't had very much exposure to. That's currently my favorite project.

The wedding itself is on July 9th. I'm taking the 6th - 24th off from work for the whole event + honeymoon. It's going to be a pretty awesome month. :D
