Limiting IPs on the Admin CP

Hello, I have made a couple of forums that ended up being hacked by a disgruntled user who was banned on a different hosting site. That hosting site did not have the option to limit the ACP to certain IPs. I was wondering if Invisionfree has the ability to limit access to the ACP via IP Address. So my IP address, and my administrator's IP address would be able to access the Admin CP. No one else would be able to if they aren't using that IP address.

I regret to inform you that IP restrictions from the AdminCP is currently not a feature included with InvisionFree.

You can however find useful information and tips on how to secure your board in our board security documentation. Further tips and recommendations on security and staff placement can be found in the board management documentation.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

ZetaBoards is definitely more advanced in terms of security features. The most notable security upgrades include:
  • Advanced Account Security. This allows extra security for administrator and moderator accounts, as well as the accounts of members by providing different options, including disabling the lost password system for the account, password security score and security questions and answers.
  • Staff Security Portal. This feature allows administrators the ability to view global moderators password scores out of 4. A score of 1-2 means that the account is as risk of being cracked, and the accountholder should be notified and asked to change his/her password immediately.

Another useful article on password security, and how to select a strong password, can be viewed here.
