How do you go about thinking up a name for a theme, and what are some of your favorite theme names you've seen (or would like to see be made into a theme )? Also, do you think a name for a theme is important, or do you tend just to slap one on as an afterthought? I think the name of a theme is an extension of the design, but not massively important. Personally though I am pathetic at naming things and end up going with something extremely obvious.

Unless a theme is very specific in its portrayal of something recognizable, I tend to try to get a color in the name, to make searching it easier for users. But I do like whimsical names that still have some relation to the theme. Just to name a theme after some song or lyric doesn't appeal to me unless it directly relates to some element in the theme. Some theme names try too hard to be sophisticated sounding and come off as pretentious. (I'm not going to give examples, because I would surely offend someone.) Generally, my naming process comes as I develop the design. I either aim for a certain feel that suggests a name, or the design becomes something that conjures up images or feelings that can be turned into a name. |

I am usually inspired by some aspect of the theme's color scheme or a mood that is set by the theme. The last two themes I created were named in part from the path that was being taken with my site. I try not to over think it. |

I name mine off of what they look like. If I name them before than I always end up changing it because It doesn't look like I pictured it, but it still looked good. |

I am the worst at theme names. In fact, several of my themes names are just a short description followed by "theme".

Theme names have always been difficult for me. I really am not good at making up names. I usually get someone else to do it. But if I have to make a theme, it would have to be something with the color of the theme itself. |

I do sometimes as well. If not a name just pops up and I use it. |

Typically whatever your theme is about, try to base the name off of it. I have a mafia theme named Criminal Insanity. And yes, I think it's important. Makes it standout in the list. |

I usually name a theme around what it was based on. For example the latest theme I had done was a space related one for my board, and since it was the third one I simply called it UniV3rse. I like names that have some relation to the theme rather than just something random that doesn't make much sense. |

I use sneaky ways to get make up names for me if I can't think of them myself.
