Hi, I have a few question. I want to make new forum. The problem is that forum have to be Bulgarian so, all users will write to Bulgarian. Will I have a problem with Cyrillic ? I'm afraid all will be a jumbled mess of symbols. In this situation is there any way to adjust forum for Cyrillic. Thanks in advance. |

Hey there! I happen to be Bulgarian, too. ![]() What browser are you using? I find that in Google Chrome if you write in Cyrilic everything is as it should be.

You are Bulgarian? Hehe, the world is really small. I use Firefox, my computer don't like Google Ghrome. It's very weighty for my PC. Last year I have a problem with Cyrilic in invision free so I have to delete forum. I don't want to spend time for new forum and after that to delete it again. I thought may be have some option in admin panel... |

Isn't it against ToS to have it in a different language? |

It sorta is but they said in the past that they won't shut you down just for that and definitely not if you pay for ad removal. They will however shut you down if your board is in another language without ad removal and there are other violations present. |

People, I just want in my forum the members to be able to write in Bulgarian and using Cyrilic, not the forum options and ect. to be in Bulgarian. And you talk it's against the rules? So if I use zeta, I have to make my members to write only in English> I'm really confused... |

What the ToS actually says about language: "Your forum must be in English. If you wish to have posts on your forum in a language other than English, you must purchase ad removal." It's not against the ToS. |

It is actually against the rules, as stated in the Terms of Service. However, the Zathyus Networks staff have stated that as long as you aren't breaking any of the other rules your board will be left alone. If you're really worried about it, you can pay for ad removal via your admin control panel.

To answer your original question, frozen_flower, allow me to talk for a moment about the wondrous world of "character encodings." There are various character encoding standards that match a character, like a Latin letter "A", an Arabic numeral "1", or a Cyrillic letter "Ц", with a corresponding representation that computers can understand. InvisionFree serves its pages using the ISO-8859-1 character encoding. What this means is that it can handle the Latin alphabet without problems, but it isn't so good at non-Latin alphabets, like Cyrillic. ZetaBoards, on the other hand, uses the UTF-8 character encoding. This "unicode" character encoding is designed to support non-Latin alphabets, and it should display Cyrillic characters. Most major browsers should be able to display them as well. So to summarize, you should be able to use Cyrillic characters with ZetaBoards. If you create a board, try posting in Cyrillic, and run into problems, please feel free to open a support ticket. Although we do not offer official support for foreign languages at this time (i.e., we can't translate the board interface yet), we will see if we can help with character encoding. (Also, to clarify, boards with content in foreign languages are not ipso facto forbidden by our Terms of Service. The Terms of Service do specify that such boards must purchase ad removal, but beyond that you are free to write in whatever language you like (except if it's Elvish, in which case Tolkien's estate might send copyright ninjas after you).) PPl, thank you very much for all information. @Ben, now I see what was the problem with my old invisionfree forum. @Shiarrael, I usually prefer to read and not be against any rules, that's the reason I fiirst asked here before create something. Hope my forum will not break any other rules and will survive this time. @Numor, actually I don't know forums using Zeta that are in Bulgarian, lately is some kind of fashion to see forums with other host which I really dislike. That's the reason I want to creat forum with this host. And I'm really hope to not have a problem this time. |
