Admin ignore feature between members; Idea from a member on our board

Often you get folks who simply cannot tolerate one another on a board, and they cannot act on self control and place a member on ignore. If admin or global mods had the ability to place members on ignore with one another temporarily that may help with the agitation. Of course if anyone quoted another's posts, they still could read, however it may help some. Just thought Id throw that out for an idea for future upgrades

There is already similar feature. Every user may ignore non-Staff Members. They may do so while viewing their profile: Profile Options --> Ignore Jelly Bean.

Staf Members however may also warn Member and use Require moderator approval of member's postings for. Warned Member still will be able to post messages and create topics but they won't be seen by Members until they are approved.

yes I know those features, they are good but used in a different way

Im talking about the ignore feature for members to ignore other members being manageable by an admin, where an admin can place a member to not be able to read another members posts. I think it may be a feature thats usable where one doesn't have enough self control to ignore someone, you can place the ignore feature for them. Tones down flame without having to warn.ban.seclude.orhavepermission before posting...

when I heard of the idea I thought it was genius from an admin stand point...

maybe other admin will find it useful as well. The least amount of tampering with members or posts is better, and ignore feature used in an admin way would be easy and not an embarrassment to a member and still allow them to partake on the board a sother members do

If a member seeing another member's post is such an issue, you should put the member causing the problem on mod queue and only approve the posts that are okay. That prevents any issues and you don't need this feature.

actually, when there is a rift between people it can run deep and isnt always a certain person "causing" the problem, it takes a while to know the baiters vs the reactors, and the bashing vs the hypersensitives. Plainly, like in life, some people just rub eachother the wrong way. Same reason as to whyone would have an ignore feature in the first place. Ignore features are great, but not often used by people because they are hard to operate in self control. In fact most of the time whenI have seen ignore features used on other boards voluntarily, its often with a lot of taunting of "I have you on ignore", really using it to just bait and troll.

again, zeta has all these great admin features, but one that would be excellent to add would be that. The ignore function to place members on with eachother when needed.

thanks for considering the request zeta. :)

I think this is a neat little idea... sort of like separating the problematic kids in a classroom.

The ignore feature only prevents a user from sending a PM to the other user, correct? I don't think there's a feature to block posts from being viewed in this manner. This would cause problems if the users were discussing something in the same topic... there would be gaps between thoughts and messages that might make the thread more confusing.

Unless, of course, I've misunderstood how the ZB ignore feature currently works.

The ignore feature blocks PMs but also hides posts. Actually, it removes posts but leaves a small, easy-to-miss line with "Post by XYZ (click to show)" with the option to show that individual post in case it's necessary for the topic or something.

It should also ignore shouts, but it currently doesn't. This known bug has been reported (as Ryan may already know).

I didn't know this! I've never actually ignored somebody, so the hiding of posts is new to me. I may have to deploy this against my enemies. :)

Seems like ZB Staff put their attention to this topic, I will (for the third time) mention about this link: http://if.invisionfree.com/home/?c=29 and how it is invisible and NOT reachable for oridinary users.

Adults who need to be treated like children... no technology can truly help them.
