In your opinion, what browsers/browser versions/IE browser versions should you support when coding? For me, I only support IE8, IE9, and the latest versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera. And with IE 8 "support" is a very loose term

For IE, IE8 and 9. 7 if you can find fixes for the issues, but not as important. Dropping support for IE6 is completely understandable, even if some places force you to use it; they need to get with the times and switch to FF or Chrome or at least use a newer version on IE. Some issues in IE I can never find a fix for, so it's sometimes hard to support even the newer versions of IE. |

I think every effort should be made to support IE8 at least. The reason is that so many people still use Windows XP. And if that is your DOS, then you can not upgrade to IE9, so you are stuck there. |

Ultimately, I think supporting the two latest versions of the top browsers is a good idea. It's hard to thoroughly test the older version when you're always updating to the latest version like me, though. |

This. IE9 is still behind in terms of CSS3.

I have XP and I have windows 9 somehow When theming I try to make sure my themes work in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera and whatever version of IE I have on my computer at the time of theming. When something doesn't work in IE, I'll fiddle for a bit but in truth, I very rarely find a solution (probably because with me I learn through mostly trial and error and observing how others theme). In IE8, one of my themes TD backgrounds didn't show up so I just disabled it on the site it was for and when IE caught up I activated it again because it sorted it out and I wasn't able to find a solution myself in the previous IE. A laxy fix but it worked So yeah, FF, Chrome, Safari and Opera, mainly because they're the ones I hear people using most often. The others I just ignored because they aren't used as much (to my knowledge anyway). |
