I know this will sound dumb, but I can't find where to promote a member to a moderator position. I have the Global Mod group in the forum, I just can't see where to make the promotion :-/ help someone please ...

Thanks, but I need things in terms that dummies can understand.

I have the bulk of the forum built, but I'm having a lot of trouble setting permissions and getting the moderator set up.

Ohh how I wish these ACP's were easier to understand and use

I'll take a look at the article to see if I can clear it up a little bit. Thanks for your feedback.

Cheers, us older lot quite often find that the ACP's aren't the easiest things to figure out. I was up until about 6.30 this morning trying to figure some of the permission masks and some of the other settings in there, I ended up more than a little confused several times as I find the layout etc hard to understand.

I have someone I could ask to check and adjust things for me, but I'd rather be able to do as much as possible myself as I can't expect them to jump and come to my rescue every time I come across somethng I don't understand.

I like the zeta layout and security etc, but the ACP is difficult to navigate for someone like me who isn't technically minded, simple precise things are needed in the ACP to explain what each thing does and what will happen if it's done.

I realise it could be a major undertaking simplifying, or dumbing down some aspects of the ACP is concerned, so I don't expect an over night fix to it.

The AdminCP takes time to master, however I find it much easier to navigate as opposed to InvisionFree's CP. I found that spending more time in the CP exploring the features and settings available was the best way to understand it.

Our extensive Documentation also contains tonnes of useful information and walkthroughs on how to navigate through the AdminCP. Of course, we're always here to help, so don't be afraid to contact us if a task becomes too confusing. :)

In saying that, our Documentation is constantly updated with new information. We also spend time re-writing old documents to make them easier to understand. If you ever come across an article that doesn't make sense, please let us know and we'll most certainly look into improving it. ^_^

Cheers.

At the moment I'm finding zeta more confusing than Invision. Making all the sections and categories was fairly straight forward for me in that I figured it out fairly quickly, I also figured the permission masks fairly quickly after looking in the Invision forum and checking the permissions there.

I must admit to being unsure about alowing HTML in the forum, would allowing the HTML limit members to what is in the ACP, or would they be able to create other HTML things?

I've set up the BBcodes okay as I feel they are safe enough, but I'm unsure about the HTML as I've heard some pretty nasty stories about people using HTML in forums and stuffing up the forum, so I'd be quite interested in opinions on allowing the use of HTML via the ACP.

I have been wondering if there will be help files made for all ACP's and be put in forums as a standard thing, it would've been very useful having this feature when I first decided to go Zeta as it would've saved a lot of time during construction of the forum.

I must admit to liking some of the features in the Zeta forum over Invision. In saying that, I'm still finding the fine tuning side of things quite confusing, so am not using or changing them through lack of knowledge on my part, and yes I have spent a lot of time in the ACP over the last few nights checking things out, and also wondering if it is safe to change or allow other things.

I would appreciate an opinion or two on the safety of allowing the HTML through the ACP though, it looks as if it could be a handy feature, but I don't want to detract from forum safety or anything by allowing it.

This is my forum how do I add it here so I get rid of the message up top saying to add it? I've already put the URL in my profile, so I'm a bit lost there too.

You can't allow html in posts with ZB, it doesn't allow it.

I have noted settings in the ACP that can be changed to allow a certain amount of HTML. I have wondered as to whether or not it would be a wise move to allow it though, hence my wanting advice about it.

I have also not found a way of deleting old PM's from the my forum, nor can I see where to set up the option to be able to delete them.

It would be helpful if I knew where to go to find the help files as I haven't noticed any here in easy view.
