Hello everyone,

Technically I've been a member for a long time now, my previous screen-name was Starkiller500 (for anyone that knew me). I chose the name Starkiller because I'm a big fan of the character and the popular series that the character plays in. I have loved Star Wars ever since I was little and the character I remember back then was Jabba the Hutt.

Star Trek is my favorite Science Fiction series too. I loved how the story was played out by certain characters, I loved how the sets were designed for all of the scenes; I mostly liked the set designs from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager with all of the LED (Light-Emitting Diode) effects, and I really loved the roles the actors (actresses) were positioned in such as being an engineer, tactical officer, security officer, operations officer, android, Klingon, Romulan, captain, etc.

Anyway, I am currently unemployed, but hopefully I'll get my dream job as a web designer (if that's what the job title is called); right now I'm limited to the knowledge of basic HTML & CSS, I don't have the experience with JavaScript yet. I became interested in this career because I love both computers and art. I have really good experience with computers; mostly in the designing and gaming area, which happens to be the things I enjoy. My experience with computers began with an old Apple my family used to have when I was little. I became fond of it and enjoyed my first time typing on it. Then I went to Hillview Jr. High and took a keyboarding class (twice) there. Took another keyboarding class in high school, which was also a web designing (or web development, I can't remember the name) class where I was introduced to using Microsoft Office and bits of HTML (which is what came to my interest); because of the class I attended, I was so deeply interested in having a website of my own. Then after graduating in 2005, I went to Las Positas College and I sort of taught myself HTML & CSS. Now I am learning to use JavaScript.

I'm practically an artist also. Graphic designing happens to be my career goal too, and in doing so, it helps support my web designing career and experience. Basically, I love art; because I happen to have a creative and imaginative mind, which really gives me an inspiration and enthusiasm to pursue this career; regardless of how long it will take to get there.

I'm sorry if I'm saying too much in this post, so I'll just say my conclusion and wrap it up.

I'm basically a family, clean and friendly-oriented person, meaning that I don't appreciate anything that's harmful, disrespectful, or inappropriate towards me, my family, and/or my buddies. I'm not comfortable breaking rules or giving (sensitive) information, so please don't tempt me, but you may call me Garrett or Stargon; it doesn't matter to me.

Anyway, I hope everyone a nice summer, hope to be a good friend, and happy to be of some help to you.

Hi Garrett, that was quite the introduction. :)

It sounds like you have an exciting career path planned. Have you ever experimented with creating a website before?

To be honest, yes I have. I've had a habit of building them and taking them down frequently, probably because I've been impatient wanting to have visitors lol, then I've learned that you can't rush it like that and that it takes time for population to grow. As a matter of fact, while we're speaking, I am currently building a role-play website called: Role-Play Universe. I've created a purpose for this website to both educate and entertain people; such as learning how to role-play, what a role-play is, what benefit it brings, and how fun it is.

This website will be designed with LED (stands for Light-Emitting Diode) effects; you could say it'll be close to a Star Trek theme. I'm beginning this project by fixing the designs on my ZetaBoards, which is going to be the studio of RPU (Role-Play Universe). All images for my website will be designed completely by me, because I don't want to mess with the copyrighted hard work crafted by other people that appear in Google Images for example. So instead, I've decided to make Photoshop my friend. Just like the RPU logo in my avatar was made by me using raw material shapes: 1 circle (for the Earth), 1 moon (for the ring around the globe; as if something's orbiting the planet) and the text all layered together to look space-related. So, like I've said before, the whole shebang is going to be designed with LEDs and space related.

I hope for RPU to be my first successful website. Frankly, I don't really come to this board too often, but in this case with RPU, I'll make an exception. Not only will I be coming here for help, but I will share my knowledge and experience with other people here so that they can get a chance to make their website(s) a success too. It's the least I could do to return the favor if it's not a problem.

I took a peak at your theme design progress thus far (http://s4.zetaboards.com/Role_Play_Universe) - it looks great. I look forward to seeing the finished product. :D

It's great to hear that you'll be sharing your knowledge with our community here. :)

Yeah, It makes me feel good to help people with problems here. I remember how much struggle it was for me to learn web designing solo. When I first heard of HTML in my web design/keyboarding class in High School, I didn't have a clue how to use it, until I started changing my font with it. The next thing I learned was using CSS. I kept copying and pasting codes, until I started using the code on my own. Now I have JavaScript to work on. What's complicated about it is that it's hard to understand the terms and definitions of certain symbols and commands. Basically with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, you're telling the computer what to do and what to make; you're the director, and that's what I'm trying to do here and direct the play of my website (figure of speech).
