Is there a way to allow guests to vote in polls? I have tried giving guests permission to read and reply to posts in the forum where the poll is located but when I log out I can not vote in the poll. |

If you want to add a poll to your post, you can do that by clicking the Append a Poll option at the top of the very first post in the topic you're in. If the Append a Poll option is not there, then it is possible that you have disabled the option to allow polls. Maybe this should help: 1) Go to your Admin CP and go then go to the Section Manager in the Forum Sections box, 2) In your Section Manager you have the list of your sections and forums. Go to the forum you want to allow polls in by clicking Edit Settings next to it, then scroll down and make sure the option for allow polls is switched to yes. 3) Then refresh/reload the page your topic is in and then check to see if the option Append a Poll appears. |

I have no problems making polls, I was asking if there is a way to open polls to non-registered users so they can vote in them. When ever I view a poll and am not logged into my board it says that guests can not vote. |

Well, I've looked in my CP in my board and I don't think there's an option to allow guests to make polls. Also you may want to bear in mind that the guest account has limitations to the board more than regular members do. So the possibility for guests is highly unlikely. Remember that the guest account is a demo account, their basic function is sampling certain board functions. Edited by Stargon, Jun 18 2011, 12:26 AM.

Again, I would like to emphasize that I am asking about guests being able to vote in polls not if they can create them. I think they might be able to create them because there is a Start permissions option if you look at the individual forum settings. Maybe I will try enabling that and see if guests can then vote in created polls, though I do not see how being able to create a poll should connect with being able to vote in polls. Edit: The option seems to have no effect on guest accounts. So I guess this means that guests are not able to vote in polls period? IMO there should be an option to enable guest voting if we want. I mean they can do everything except this if you enable the options, so why not voting? Edited by Geowil, Jun 18 2011, 02:48 PM.

There are certain things guests cannot do, because they do not have accounts. For example, they are unaffected by any PM settings. Guests cannot vote in polls because there is no way to keep track of them, and thus there is no way to have accurate results. |
