Unfortunately, root directory access it not available to board administrators. Only Brandon has that type of access. What you could do is create a manual links sitemap on a webpage and submit that page to Google.

You could possibly try this. If you only purchased hosting from GoDaddy for the XML file, there is free hosts out there that allow you to host them. I personally would have allowed you to use Planet Nexus' host to host the file.

so how would i use my file url in the example you sent me?
Code:

http://z2.ifrm.com/10711/153/0/f5016415/sitemap.xml

Code:

view plainprint?
var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); <br>
function loadXML(xmlFile) <br>
{ <br>
xmlDoc.async="false"; <br>
xmlDoc.onreadystatechange=verify; <br>
xmlDoc.load(xmlFile); <br>
xmlObj=xmlDoc.documentElement; <br>
}

where do I put my file in this section.

Code:

<ul id="site_list"><li id="loading">Loading data...</li></ul>

<script type="text/javascript">
$.get('http://z2.ifrm.com/10711/153/0/f5016415/sitemap.xml', function data(xml) {
$(xml).find("url").each(function() {
$("ul#site_list").append('<li>' + '<a href="' + $(this).find("loc").text() + '">' + $(this).find("loc").text() + '</a>' + '</li>');
$("#loading").hide();
});
});
</script>
I put that together from a documentation that I found, but it doesn't work, the error I receive in Firebug looks like it's due to the AJAX restrictions that were put into place. Due to the AJAX restrictions you're probably out of luck with the XML file.

Once Google finds your site it will crawl most, if not all pages.

Due to the complexity of parsing XML sitemaps without root directory access, why not just use a text-based sitemap?

Generally search engines will index your pages when they find them, either through another site or by manual submission. To create a manual sitemap you could find the primary pages on your board and list the URLs on a webpage for search engines to find and index; see this for a list of pages. You could then submit that page URL to the search engines you want to index your site. Some sites offer a submission form that submits the URL to various search engines, but this generally isn't recommended. You probably want to stick with the major search engines, namely Google.

can I ask you this....If I were to use PHPBB is there a way to get all my members information and port them over to the new site. so all they see is that the forum look different. A go daddy rep said that if I was given the member dada base file I could upload it to my new forum?
