As an archivist and historian... I have made a small gallery of this:

Personally I think this is a great feature indeed. Themes installation is very quick and nice. Some themes features also different sets of images that can help customize the board even better! However I am wondering if Admins are allowed to edit CSS of that pre-installed themes, or not. With default ZetaBoards theme Admins are allowed (as far as I know) to edit it however they want without requesting approval from theme creator. I wonder if this is possible with the themes from RDB too.

Theme creators are able to select their preferred theme license when they submit their theme.
The choices include:
Can create derivative theme. Theme changes allowed.
No derivative themes allowed. Changes allowed.
No changes or derivatives allowed. (Not recommended)

I think the license terms should be visible before the theme is installed, there:

So Admin will be aware before installing it, if he can modify it or not.

So does this take the themes off of any Zetaboard without permission? Or must it be submitted at ZNR?

Plus - how the heck do you change permissions for your themes? I make all of mine for my site and I like them being only on my site. I have never found a way to change it's permissions.

It must be submitted I think. Please follow this link: http://resources.zetaboards.com/home/?c=22 This is a link to Joinable Groups of ZNR where You can join RDB Contributors group. However You will need an account to do so.

It is not possible. Just do not release them anywhere. In fact if someone will want to steal Your theme from You, he will be able to do so.

Thanks :)

With the bit about theft of themes, I just want to know that if I submit it somewhere, then it can be used, rather than I code it and post it on one of my own zetaboard sites and then it gets automatically loaded up on there. But I find myself happy now - as for those desperately wanting my themes? They can ask and then I'd probably say yes dependant on the theme lol! Plus, there are so many better themers than me! :D

Thank you for your help!

Nemo may have oversimplified things, I fear. But I'm glad you seem to have understood and are content with the current situation. :)
As clarification for anybody else:
First, your themes are not automatically included in the RDB. You need to submit them. When you submit them for other people to use, you may select the appropriate license.
If you do not release/submit your themes, you hold the license and can select where, when, and how your work is used.
However, a person could find your community and steal the theme. But that is theft. You can report them to us and they will be dealt with. This process is called "ripping" and is not condoned by our community.

Just wondering, in the author part does it link to the ZNR account? If it doesn't I think it does, just to give the creator a bit more credit.

I'm also wondering, what's going to happen to custom forum images? Are they still going to be installable in RDB installed themes? Will they be available on the RDB or will users need to go to resource forums like they do today?

Theme authors are attached to ZNR accounts. The discussion topics for themes are posted with the author's ZNR account.

I believe the license on the theme determines if theme images can be edited.
Finally, the RDB will be expanded in the future, as the announcement suggests. It is currently only for themes.

Another question I have, will new themes/modifications/&c added through announcements or just the section "New Additions" will be updated without any further notifications?

While this is a premium feature at the moment, the Resource Database will be open to all boards in the near future.

I'll have to doublecheck how permissions are set. But the RDB developer group on ZNR should be able to see the discussion forum for each theme. You'll notice that they are started by that theme's creator even though he or she may not have logged in for quite some time.

I don't know how You but I have seen plenty of Guests.

EDIT: Unless only official ZB themes are created by guest.
