Just wondering, in the author part does it link to the ZNR account? If it doesn't I think it does, just to give the creator a bit more credit.

I'm also wondering, what's going to happen to custom forum images? Are they still going to be installable in RDB installed themes? Will they be available on the RDB or will users need to go to resource forums like they do today?
I'll have to doublecheck how permissions are set. But the RDB developer group on ZNR should be able to see the discussion forum for each theme. You'll notice that they are started by that theme's creator even though he or she may not have logged in for quite some time.
Actually everyone is able to see the discussion forum, even guests.

EDIT: Unless only official ZB themes are created by guest.
Correct. Midnight, Classic and Original all say guest because that's how they were released. Pink Revolution may also say guest since it was created and updated by several people and we aren't sure which one has an account on ZNR.

The point is that eventually, everyone should be able to comment on the themes in the topics in the subforums.
Or are you also seeing the original topics posted when it was still RDB Contributors only?

Has there been any talk of authors updating their themes? How does that work?

We can see the RDB submissions forum as a read-only forum with no topics in it with the Themes discussion forum as a subforum.

When a resource is submitted, how long does it take to enter the RDB, will it be able to be commented on before it enters the RDB, and as Delirium asked what will happen if the theme needs to be updated?

Yes it's been discussed. Currently all themes are approved by Brandon. So if you update it, he'll be the one that approves that. Last night we had a theme that had to be resubmitted so the old one was just deleted. There will likely be a more elegant solution from now on though.

When a theme is submitted, Brandon approves it. So he'll likely be doing these in batches. Eventually, we're hoping to transfer approval duty over to other staff. But for now in this phase, it's important that he handle it so we can catch any problems quickly. So time could be anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to (if he's super busy) a few days. As far as being commented on before entering the RDB, the submission form allows you to share private notes with us. There's a section that says: Notes (Not Public). Once it is submitted, it waits for Brandon to add it. If he has any questions, he'll contact you.

A good idea for all designers would be to include a link to their ZNR profile in the Notes section when submitting. It makes Brandon's life easier and will help speed along your approval.

I meant commented on by other members, like how it is on the current ZNR themes forums. Is the submission place a regular forum or just a list of resources to enter the rdb waiting for approval?

Ah. It's a regular forum. Hence why each topic says: Discussion topic for: [Theme]

So that discussion forum will replace the current Recommended and regular ZB themes galleries? It doesn't seem like there will be a need for both to be in existence.

And not that I'm effected by this, but is this also for InvisionFree (I know there is no Premium for IF, but I mean the RDB in general)? Is there going to be anything or are they just out of luck and supposed to upgrade to get to use it?

Eventually, that may happen. The Recommended gallery will likely be tranferred into the RDB piece by piece. The regular ZB theme gallery would likely still stick around because remember: not every theme will be accepted into the RDB.

As to Invisionfree: Right now, the focus is on Zetaboards and getting the RDB settled on ZB first. After that's done, we might look at IF.

What is the criteria for a theme to be accepted to a the database then? Are there any written guidelines or anything yet? If not, there probably should be to prevent confusion and future questioning.

My request to join the group at ZNR is still pending, so I guess that ain't happening. :P Glad to see this finally coming to fruition, anyhow. Was starting to think the RDB would never appear.

I would like to thank everyone that was involved in getting this setup. I have been anticipating the arrival of the RDB ever since I heard about it and it's basically just what I envisioned. Users can install themes with ease now, and I have a request pending with Reid that will make themes on ZNR be installed quicker with just a few clicks of a mouse to install the images instead of doing it manually, so if that pulls through users will never again have to download a zip file, upload images and install them manually.
