However, people hate socialism, which is exactly what would help to balance the distribution of wealth.
It wouldn't, trust me.
Here in the UK we've had some heavy doses of socialism since the end of WW2, and what it's done is inflate the public sector to the point that the private sector and the working man can no longer support it through taxes, it's created a level of state dependency that's not sustainable, it's diluted personal responsibility and on the whole just encourages envy.
Ahh, that's unfortunate. I'm curious though, what if it was allowed to occur initially for a few years, and then pulled out from under the people, what would happen? Would it benefit the economy or would it make it crumble?

Regarding the banks, capitlism got bailed out by socialist ideals. I think the protests are a great thing, it shows that people are sick of the terrible money-centric world in which we live. What I also find hilarious is Western Governments quick off the mark to denounce brutality in the Arab Spring but completely ignore violence towards Western protest. Even funnier is the violence committed by under cover police officers hired to try and make trouble so there is a justification of violence towards the public by authorities.

I was in London, and will be again on the 30th for protests. People who argue that protesting costs the economy should look up how much banks screwed the entire world over and realise that yeah, not going to work may impose on your life slightly, but in the grander picture fights for those people's children and worker's justice as a whole.
