Is there a way to set your board where a member cannot keep bumping their own thread up with new posts if no one responds? Like so if they keep posting behind themselves it just gets added to their last post and doesn't bump the whole thread up? I have seen this done on other boards but haven't been able to figure out if there is a way to set up my board so that someone doesn't keep bumping their own thread up when no one else is interested in it. |

This is possible using a JavaScript code. I found two on the resource board: http://resources.zetaboards.com/topic/5075700 http://resources.zetaboards.com/topic/500736 I don't think these codes stop the topics from being bumped, however. They just merge the posts. |

Okay, don't all laugh but how/where would I use these codes? I think they might work for me if I can figure out that part. |

Haha, it's okay. ![]() Open your Admin CP, and on the left side, there should be a box called Skinning & Styles. In it, you should see a link called Board Wrappers. Click on it. Scroll down, and there should be a box called Footer. Click on the box, and copy the code into it. |

If you're using Zetaboards it would be different, you posted this in the Invisionfree section. Although the code may work if you go through:Admin CP -> Themes - > Board Template - > Javascript If you put his code in there it COULD work, I'm not saying it will but that's where you would put the code. |

If the member is doing it within a 48 hour period, you can set up auto-merge, with no bump, in your ACP > Preferences > Topics and Posts. You can also set it for Merging after the cut-off, without bump. (You can also do the Javascript add-on, of course, if you prefer. )

I am sorry I put this in the wrong place. I still get lost! I tried adding the codes in the Javascript section on Zetaboards but then when I went to the board and ran a thread with a couple double posts they still all came up as separate posts and were not merged. I don't know that the 48 hour option will work. I have an issue where one person puts things up for sale in section of my board for this but then she is constantly bumping her topic up by adding to her thread weekly or so and our board is just not big enough to need to do that. People just don't want to buy her stuff. I did put up a message requesting members not to double post in the For sale section but rather to edit their original post if they wanted to make any changes. I guess that will just have to do. |

You don't need a code for that. Go to your admincp > Preferences > Topics and Posts.Change "Merging Before The Cut-Off" to "Merge posts and don't bump topic" and then change "Merging After The Cut off" to "Merge posts and don't bump topic". Doesn't matter what number you set as the cut-off. It works perfectly, I have it set up on my board.

Although the code may work if you go through:
