Limit quoting to one level

I'm looking for a way to set quoting so that when you quote someone it only shows their post quoted and not all the posts that they have quoted before. The default setting on zetaboards means that if people quote each other a lot on a topic then it becomes irritating to read as you have to scroll past massive amounts of quotes.

I know that there is a setting that allows you to change it so that you can limit quoting to one/two/three etc. levels but there are problems with that. It keeps coming up with the "Quoting limited to 1 levels deep" when you quote someone.

I managed to find a solution here: Quoting That does what I want i.e. limits it to one quote but you can actually see the quote when you reply. The problem is that when you quote someone it hides everything that is in the [ ] brackets. So, rather than just blocking the older quotes and leaving you with one person's quote, it also blocks anything anyone has posted in bold/italics and any images they have posted.

Is there any solution where you can quote people, see their quote in full and limit quoting to one level without having to get the "Quoting limited to 1 levels deep" message showing in posts.
